I was on the Nene Valley Railway line, waiting to see if the foxes nearby made a show and heard a steam engine approaching...ooh, got a couple photos but sod.my luck, it had the water tender (or coal box perhaps) on the front, completely obscuring the locomotive.
Anyway, its Tornado, apparently built 2008 ? doing a turn on NVR.
Apparently if id waited for the return journey, id have seen it tender less...

Nothing wrong with a nice tender rear.

... It's called the tender and yes, Tornado was completed in 2008. It's the first of a few major replicas built or being built.

The train from yesterday's White Rose, King's Cross to York and back.
The train stayed at Welwyn Garden City last night, unfortunately because of the weather, the class 47,802 was leading out back to Southall. With 34028 Eddystone behind it.

Tübingen maintenance depot is being rebuilt to accommodate the new multiple units now in use. Two class 440 Coradia Continental units on shed earlier today. Not the best picture but I wasn't entirely sure I was allowed to be there so I didn't want to hang around getting the composition right.

SteamRail trip to Geelong last Saturday to give K160 a run after a lengthy overhaul.
K160 belongs to Victorian Goldfields Railway which operates on a former branch line.
SRV has the maintenance facilities so they did the overhaul for VGR hence the twin headboards.

I noted the other day there was a Deltic running on Never Valley Railway. Apparently they've suspended running steam on the line to help prevent fires due to the very dry weather.

North York Moors have got around that by converting an American S160 locomotive to oil firing. Still means some services are diesel and in high temperatures the S160 is not safe to crew. Not exactly the same as coal fired due to the pong of burnt oil and its currently emitting a very black exhaust which seems at odds to when the Festiniog used oil

That loco is designated to be preserved, not so much because of what it is (although I am sure '11 did lots of great things over the years*), but because of the livery.

Its preservation is truly 'Paint Froth Manifest!'

* - '11 is actually the first ever '91 I ever recorded seeing, so I liked it in it's former 'Terence Cuneo' guise.

** - And yes, I know it's actually a vinyl, but it might as well be 'Paint Froth!'.
