It'll soon be summer
Is it really really expensive from Dover to St.P. on the HS1?

With a Network Railcard, a single to St Pancras is £24.60 and the journey takes 1 hour 6 mins. Although you do get to go at 138 mph at times. The standard train to Charing Cross takes about 1 hour 55 mins and costs £14.35.

That's why the ruse of getting a Coventry bound train via St Pancas for £12 is so delightfully delicious.

That's just dangerous. Haven't people read that you suffocate if a train goes faster than 20mph?

any chance i could use the facilities mate i'll be bursting by then
Go at HPC (you usually do) and then the loos near London Bridge. Then Tesco at Surrey Quays. Then on Blackheath. Then at the top of Shooters Hill and you'll be fine to the centre of Welling. I'll be asleep!

I'm planning on getting the xx05 or xx45 train to London Victoria, since that'll stop at Bromley South, which is a slightly shorter trip home for me. This does mean that I probably won't benefit from the company of all of you people travelling by HS1!

The weather looks like it's going to be very mild tonight. I'm yoyoing between a short sleeved jersey, and a lightweight long sleeved one. I don't think anything more involved is going to be necessary to keep the elements at bay!

I am really jealous!! Wish the ankle was up to it. Nice weather overnight, nice day tomorrow and one of my favourite pubs isn't that far from Dover, the Coastguard at St Margarets.

Just for extra stupidity, a single ticket from Dover to London Victoria is £21-70, whereas a single to Bromley South, getting off a stop earlier is £27-60.

Luckily, with a full cost, non-advance ticket, it's perfectly acceptable to get off in that fashion. If I had bought a cheap advance ticket, I could be forced to pay an additional amount at Bromley South, for getting off the train a stop too early.

You might have me for company Tim - if I decide on the train option that is. I haven't bought a ticket of any sort though and will completely bewildered if I'm forced to do so. But looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, it would be rude not to ride back!

I don't generally ride back, but have come close to considering it for a Brighton FNRttC. Somehow, after doing over 100 miles to get to Dover (including my trip to the start), I don't think I'm going to be inclined to cycle back. ^_^

I miss one ride and the level of commitment just falls away

Right, I'll be leaving for Hyde Park Corner shortly, I'll see whoever is going to be on the ride there. This should be a fun ride, and the weather is damned near perfect conditions for a night ride.
