I have just entered a competition sponsored by South Western Railways. First prize is a weekend in Weymouth. It's less than an hour on the train and we visit friends there regularly but never thought about a weekend break as it's so close to where we live. This got me wondering what the closest to home holiday us retirees had taken ( excluding being banished to the shed or a tent in the garden 😁 )

Morning.
Another glorious day and getting warmer. Definitely a shorts day.
Only slight cloud on the horizon is a visit to dentist this morning but it's only a check up so not anticipating too much pain. Going to dentist never an issue for me, some have a fear of them but aside from some physical discomfort it doesn't bother me.

Then it's gym or cycle. I missed my weights session on Monday as I was riding so may need to get one in.

That looks rather posh dave.

It is a good one. Bit sad really but my SiL works with the elderly and disabled so there is always somebody popping their clogs and the family just need to get rid of their scooters etc. I only paid 100 quid for it.
As you can see it has wide front wheels so is quite stable, some of them look as though they could tip over at any moment.

Good morning from a wonderfully sunny Lake District. We've got an Aribnb with four friends while we have three days walking up here.

The main focus is to see the Rannerdale Bluebells which should be coming to their peak.

Our property is close to the bottom of Wrynose. I watched a number of riders go by with grim expressions and gritted teeth. Good luck guys! 🤣

Wow, fantastic photos there PaulSB. The bluebells just starting to come out here, we get quite a few in the sides of our garden as we're surrounded by farmland etc but those views are spectacular.

As for Wrynose, I've watched a few videos on the Fred Whitton and it looks grim! That and Hardknott. I think I'd be one of the riders walking up it!

Sat on the patio right now, it's lovely.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I went to town to post a couple of things and to pick Mr WD and the bins tablets from the Dr's. Town was heaving as its market day, lots of tourists and a funeral processors going through the already packed town with market stalls in the road. I was glad to get away and glad I went early.
