Morning all :hello:

Painters will be here shortly to put the 2nd coat on the exterior.
I need sunglasses to look at the place now!
Forecast rain tomorrow, so they're doing their best to get the job finished today.
After I painted my bungalow, 5 years ago, I vowed that it would be the last time I painted a property. Much easier to leave it to the professionals - even if it's left me 2.5K lighter.

And to be fair the pros do this sort of thing all day and will inevitably do a better and longer lasting job than we can.

Good morning :sun: it's Bruce Day. YEAH! a few mundane hours to fill so I've done the holiday washing, drying on the line. next I will check the allotment, do my stretching and go for a short walk. I haven't exercised properly the last few days. We're driving in to Manchester at 3.00, park up near the Northern Quarter (trés trendy), eat and then walk out to Coop Live. I fancy a stroll along the Ashton canal which goes by the door. I'm not sure Mrs P and our friends will feel the same. Very excited. Ridiculously so. I'm 70 for goodness sake!!!

Just watching a docu drama about the plane crash on Lockerbie

always reminds be of a trip to Chepstow working - we were installing a new computerised conveyor system

a "business manager" was there at the same time and insisted that the 2 of us came to dinner with him and his assitant (I don;t think he realised what rank we were - he just assumed we were "functionaries")

anyway - he was blathering on about how wonderful he was and how he was incharge of new store opening

he commented that he had been in charge of opening a major new store in Scotland when the crash happened and was on the news

he commented that his first thought was "Oh my GOD - I hope the lorries can get through!!!"
and he was serious - not just a first thought before it sank it

probably one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard

sorry - just had to tell someone

One of my drinking pals is a retired police Officer. He was sent to Lockerbie after the plane came down to help search the debris. Some very upsetting “finds” by all accounts.

6.5 mile wander done. It felt cool when I set off, but had to take the jacket off after a couple of miles. Another decent day here.

I hope it’s not the case, but I suspect there will be several accidents on the roads over the weekend with the first rain after weeks of dry. Drivers don’t seem to realise how slippy it is at first.

Drivers and cyclists beware. Tiny particles of rubber, oil and other debris create a skid pan after a long dry spell.

Unfortunately I believe a lot of people don't realise this and carry on as if the roads were dry, not adjusting to the conditions.

I'm learning the bass to Ramble On so will listen to it 8 or 10 times while walking the dog. I don't read music brilliantly so for me it's most effective to learn the meat of it by ear and then resort to the music for any widdly bits I can't fathom.

Top track. One of my Zep favourites.

Morning!

Many pages have been missed - sorry!

5 weeks in hospital done - about 1/3rd through now.

Consultant is genuinely surprised how I have handled the chemo' thus far - he said it helps massively to be fit before you start.

Managed about 2km in total over 2 walks yesterday. Sounds pathetic, but I was chuffed. 10 days ago, I could only manage 1 walk of about 100m a day - and 2 days of absolute zilch. Remember the run-down Duracell bunny playing his little drum - well, that was me!

I have many hospital observations to share at some stage, some of which will nudge precariously close to the NCAP precipice. 😮

Have a good day all. 👍
