Where's the thread about signs you are getting old, or something like that? I can't find it so I'll post on here, even though I'm not retired yet. Do any of you when finding a shopping bag or other items too heavy to carry ask someone to carry it to your door or your car? I don't struggle now as my heavy shopping bag the other day nearly toppled me over! I now put it when too heavy on the floor, put a little act on hoping I'll get a 'Let me carry it for you' response. If I don't I'll ask someone, usually some pumped up muscle wise bloke, saying 'You look like you are capable of lifting very weights, could you carry my bag for me please'. In my younger days I'd take that as a compliment and gladly say yes, as all seem to do when I ask them. The other week a copper was coming out of my local Tesco when I was on the way out as well. I stopped him and asked if he'd carry my bag to my car. He seemed surprised, but did so, with me thanking him and saying I hope he reaches Sargent level soon!🧐
Mary, a 1948 model used to get upset if people offered to carry things for her but since she tore a rotator cuff she is quite happy to accept offers of assistance.
