Don't i know it,we was in New York a few years back,the sister in law and my missus took me to see some team play.I could not stand it five hours yes five hours lost out of my life.

We went to Washington DC some years back - a great 6 day whirlwind break to see a slice of Americana. Fantastic little trip.

Part of the itinerary was to see a baseball game at the home of the Baltimore Orioles.

The real treat was watching the crowd reaction to 'play'. Basically nothing much happens for ages, the crowd are busily stuffing their faces with food and soft drinks, chatting away and having a great time. Seemingly without any interest in the game.

Then, a small burst of play occurs and the fans go berserk, the big screen cartoons & tunes kick-off, the whole stadium seems to be in motion.

And moments later, everyone settles down, back to munching, drinking & chatting. How they keep in-tune with the on-field activities is a mystery. But, somehow, they do!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Anyone else have this problem (or know why I do).
My @ only works for certain members eg
@Mo1959...... fine.
@Drago ...... fine
@PaulSB.......no, won't work**
@welsh dragon.......no, won't work**

**So for some members eg Paul and Welshie I have to type the full name out whereas for others just the 1st letter brings the full list of possibles up.

I would say it's because I'm special but that would open up a whole can of worms. 😆

We went to Yankee Stadium for a game during our 1980 trip and had very much the same experience. It's hard to understand.

Joking aside (assuming you are joking).
Golf is a wonderful sport for many reasons.
It gets you out into some beautiful scenery.
The handicap system works really well.....its one of the few sports where a big strong man can compete fairly with a slightly built woman (or vice versa of course ^_^ )
A player never knows from week to week, even day to day, how he/she will play......witness days 2&3 at the Ryder cup.
I was never a very good golfer. My poor coordination held me back. At my best I played off 18 and towards the end I was off 28.......but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You might detect a slight bias from me.

I had the misfortune to be working with a bunch of ex-pats, who were all golf mad. Every weekend, they would. disappear off to play golf. Eventually, I began to join them (I just walked along with them, and, searched for lost balls). I used to be amazed at how inconsistent and useless they were, despite talking none stop about the game, and, spending a fortune on "gear".

Edit: OK, I admit, I did participate at the 19th hole 😂

That is one of the great things about it ie how the handicap system makes it possible for most people to have the one stand out, magical game.
As I've said, I was, at best, an average club player and yet.......
I once got a hole in one......184 yarder.
And I still possess a medal achieved for being the best/most consistent golfer over a whole month.....out of 85 participants.
