Morning, I feel very tired,
I don't think I have anything planned today so just take it easy.

ISRAEL/GAZA. (none political comment coming).
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but in the early 90s I worked in Israel (while with a subsidiary of Shell).
I had to meet the owners/directors of 22 different construction related companies. I was based in Tel Aviv......a 5* hotel right on the beach no less. The meetings took me all over Israel eg Jerusalem, Gaza, up North and as far south as Eilat.
It was a truly beautiful country and the people** were friendly.
**I had continuous problems with thier 'secret Police' who kept mistaking me for a wanted person......quite scary sometimes.

My point is that I find it quite upsetting to see what is left of that beautiful, friendly area.

So you were a spy and nearly got found out?????

@Dave7 I lived in Israel for a year in the mid 70's working on kibbutz Degania Alef where the River Jordan flowed from the Sea of Galilee (my swimming pool).
I worked with both Israeli's & Palestinians who lived in Israel & the West Bank and never had any problems whatsoever with either.
When travelling around, certain places were ill advised, or not allowed, to go unless one of the group was armed; pistol or uzi, usually.
I toured & cycled around lots of places: Golan Heights, West Bank, Dead Sea for a swim/float, Negev Desert, Jerusalem, Mt Sinai, Eilat & Sharm.
I saw Gaza but never visited and don't know whether I'd be able to get in.. Or out again! Lol...

2 appointments with Age UK this morning to help people with some IT thingy

and I have just been looking up how to claim the State Pension - as I will be officially old in March

I was instructed in what happens and how t odo it by SWMBO's sister's husband a few days ago

but as he is the thickest person I have ever met
AND very very gullible
I do not trust anything he says

so I checked and apparently I should get a letter in a few weeks with a code on it and after that I cam claim online

so he was wrong
again

Yes, I got mine around 3 months prior to my pension age but for some reason it didn't work online. Quick phone call to a very helpful lady who just asked a few questions and sorted it out within minutes.

A rather dreich walk done. It wasn't actually raining but there was a dampness in the air. Hopefully it'll burn off soon.

I have given in and stuck the hall storage heater on just at 1 so it will take the chill off the air.

Off to watch some of this now.

I got my state pension letter in the December before my birthday in the March.
It was very easy to go online, enter the code, bank details ect, answer a few questions and it was all done.
A day later I got a confirmation email, and about 4 weeks later a letter from DWP detailing the amount of pension, and the dates it would be paid.

Thanks - I like to know what is coming up

and I need to get the procedure right as my wife's birthday is 13 days after mine
so I am sure I will be asked to help her sort hers out

Yes - I married a younger woman
but she did lie about her age when we first met
she claimed to be 2 weeks younger than me but it is only 13 days


she has commented a few times that I have told that story too many times
but I think it has some mileage in it yet!

Well they thought i was.
The British Ambassador eventually got involved but to no avail.
The most scary time was while waiting for a flight from Eilat. 2 soldiers held machine guns against me and took me away to a big warehouse.
They removed my shoe laces and belt then took my video camera away. I remember thinking that they could, literally, eliminate me and nobody would know.
I missed my flight and had to get a later one.

Mrs SD had a letter last week telling her she would get a letter nearer the time to when her SP is due...

... it is over 4 years away!

Yes, I'm not interested in joining but the Kick Sugar Summit this year had some excellent speakers so I watched a lot of them. I gave up on that one as it was really more of a plug for the courses.
