Daughter has taken the grandchildren to Upton Country Park. It's a couple of miles walk either way and the house has descended into a blissful silence. That's made me wonder if we are unusual in not having the radio or TV on during the day which means that apart from the usual day to day noises of washing machine / coffee machine / food preparation etc, and of course conversation, there's no attention grabbing background noise.

Upton Country Park in Northampton, perchance?

We have the grand kids

Apparently they needed to go to Greggs for lunch

anyway I was just paying and the 3 of them were right next to me

and the woman (old - well - older than me) started telling the youngest that he was going straight to bed when he gets home
she repeated "straight ot bed"

no idea why - they were not causing any problem and were right next to me - so not running around or anything

and she didn;t look at me even once that I saw
certainly never talked to me to say they had done something wrong

The eldest (13) was at the back and she said she saw nothing wrong and had no idea what the woman was going on about

Honestly!!!

I mean - they were obviously with me - so even talking to them in that way was just not acceptable!

Probably unusual. Many households seemingly cannot run without the TV or radio on.

Our TV goes on to watch specific content only. Radio/hi-fi goes on only when the mood arises.

Other than the above; peace reigns.

My virgin broadband has been crap for the last few days only getting 50mbps.
A while earlier lost it all so phoned them up and spoke to a guy in India, he wants to
send someone round tomorrow to check it all out.......
I just hope he's not coming from India too or it won't be tomorrow !!!

I have never understood this......how do you know what speed your broadband is running at ? (if that's the correct phrase).
