Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I just received a message from someone saying that I owe money to them. Its for parking fines and they sent me a link for me to pay. That's very decent and helpful of them.

I got an email the other day as well saying that a I had authorised a payment from my Google wallet for something.

I am afraid I must decline payment to them, but nice try though

The nasty thing is though that they will yarget some old person who will panic and click on the links to pay these scumbags . I wish I could get hold of them

I had an email and invoice the other week for items paid for from my PayPal account, and a link to report it.
There of course was no such transaction, but some people might get taken in.

In my u3a we run a Digital Skills group which focuses on helping older people with day to day tech issues. I help out with the group. One thing we repeatedly discuss is online security and how to recognise scam links.

If anyone knows of individuals who might want telephone support or even a home visit this charity is brilliant. In my experience they deliver everything it says on the tin.

As I have mentioned - I do something similar via AgeUK
It would be good if organisations like these co-operated and made an effort to make sure that the message that "help is out there" is put out

but I have been pushing for a decent "marketing" effort to go out for some time

I think I am starting to get through, but it has taken a while
trying to get people to talk to other organisation doing a similar thing is probably about as easy as persuading trump to have a sensible chat with Eddie Izzard (sorry if they have a different name now!)

but if they could all co-operate then they could sort out a decent coverage and make sure more people are helped
