Good morning. I woke at 4.00am. It was so cold I put the heating on and went back to bed!!! Mrs P has hardly slept, she was still awake at 5.00ish so I have to creep around like a church mouse.

I'll take the Christmas decs down, make bread crumbs, do the ironing and other bits until she appears. I'll go to the gym and grab a walk later. I'm hoping to get to my LBS to discuss wheels and groupsets but that may have to wait.

The breaking news is scary, very, very scary. I do hope what's running through my mind is wrong. I fear I've jumped to the right conclusions. God knows what world my granddaughters face.

Well, Bruce's walk didnt go well.

Hes torn a dew claw running on the frozen ground. I've cleaned it up, put some Savlon on there and bound it up. He'll be fine.

Then I slipped over. I didn't break or bang anything but I've wrenched something in my lower back and it chuffing well hurts.

Hugs to both of you!

I have promised the grand kids - who have stayed here over night - that we are going to see something special today

It is a quarry locally - we go there quite often but last time the oldest one was here and the middle one was staying with "the other grandparents" we would a way into the quarry

I have found that there are a load of holes in one wall where the Home Guard used the place for firing practice during WW2
(Home Guard - or as my Dad referred to the "The Look Duck and Vanish" - his Dad was in it!)

I will let it warm up a bit first!

Wondered what you meant until I checked the world news.

We have a slight covering of snow here.

Its only 13 deg in my living room so I have made the executive decision to light a fire it feels warmer just seeing it even before it starts to heat the place.

We had the coal effect gas fire removed but kept the fireplace and tile surround. We were planning on fitting a realistic electric version but in the meantime got a cheapy £70 replica stove from Screwfix which slotted into the gap so we weren't looking at an empty hearth. We switch that on in the evenings without the heating option just for the flickering flame effect as it makes us feel warmer psychologially I suppose. We've been running the central heating continuously 24/7 since the 1st October, obviously it only comes on when needed but the whole house has been at a minimum of 21 degrees since then, apart from when I put it in " Holiday " mode for the 6 days we were away over Christmas.

Wouldn't that mean you listen to crap modern stuff ?

There is some very good modern stuff!
We educated out kids into music early - helped having Guitar Hero, etc. They love the Beetles, Nick Drake & many old styles….but equally, I love Wet Leg (saw them before they were famous!), Last Dinner Party & much more.
Still doing festivals helps, hours of Spotify doesn’t hurt, but you might be pleased to hear Billy Ocean is doing Latitude this year 🤪
