I've just had two messages from my Doctor's surgery, one for routine blood tests, and another for the annual health check.
MrsP has badgered me into booking a free hearing test at the local branch of Boots the chemist.
All the above booked in for the 11th, 12th and 19th of this month.

Do you know Boots don't offer NHS hearing aids? Specsavers do. I had my initial hearing tests with Boots and it was only when I declined aids costing £1200 - 3500 the young lady told me Boots doesn't do NHS aids.

Good evening. Here I am. Would you please stop talking about this yellow thing and warmth. It's bloody freezing here and wet.

BUT dedicated cyclist that I am this didn't stop today's ride. 54 miles in a headwind but it only rained for the last 10 or so.

A new cafe today. Very average coffee, good beans on and a contender for loo of the year!

Today wasted half an hour talking to O2 trying to change from contract plan to pay go ;rest of the day was better spent in the garden doing some cutting back and moving a Fatsia Polycarpa in to a pot.
This evening is wine and cheese and quiz night on the tv.

I'll get the free test done, and if necessary I'll take the test result/prescription somewhere else. Hopefully my hearing won't be bad enough for an aid, I personally don't think it is.

Back from Newtown and of course its raining. I haven't been into the town for at least 18 months. I usually just skirt around the outside on my way to aldi, Morrisons. Boy it's changed a lot. So many stops have closed down. It's ridiculous.

Eyes tested. I'm fine to drive. I only need glasses for reading. But 1 get another pair free.
£130, plus £40 for each pair for an anti glare coating. £210 spent. Easy come, easy go as they say.

There's lovely then.

Been raining here since lunchtime

been for a hearing test - did pretty well on most things
until they started sounds with background noise - where I was less good

but it turns out that my ears are clogged up with wax which needs clearing

which should help



dilema
if my hearing gets much better - do I tell my wife????

Evening folks enjoyed a workout spin today as headwinds featured most of the ride apart from the last 6 miles which blew me home along the A9
My spring slug cull has begun! i dont get snails or large orange/black slugs just loads of small ones which can cause a lot of damage. I use a tried and tested method which works very well- Plastic tuperware type boxes have holes/slits made high on the sides and a mix of water/yeast/sugar/flour is poured in up to the entrance slits and the lid put on to keep rain out. Slugs home in to the scent enter box and drown. Ratio of flour/sugar/salt is something like 1 tsp yeast, desert spoon of sugar, dsp of flour to a pint of water, its doesnt matter much as long as its a yeasty sugery gloop! Last year one box had about a hundred dead slugs in it

Many weeks ago I noticed a bird on a tree at the back of our house

I couldn;t get a decent photo of it so I got my decent camera

and it went away
camera wasn;t working due to lack of an SD card and low charge
so teh flock of small birds was also not photographed


anyway - today the Pheasant is back
