My shower drain pipe is also too close to horizontal..... no choice really. My cleaner has taken that job as part of her "duty" when she cleans the shower cubicle, which she does admirably every week .

Reminds me - the sink in the kitchen is rather too level as well

problem with that is that it will be best cleaned out by taking the whole u-bend off
which means totally clearing out the whole cupboard under it

better do that as well!

I get very impatient with old people. They dither over menus, they dither over buffets, can't make there mind up whether to have cold meats or cheeses, should they have salad with or without tomatoes or whatever. They get in the way, have no spacial awareness of who is around them block the ailes and generally hold everyone up.
But we can't say anything as we have to be tolerant.

You do realise to most of the population, everyone on the here are ‘ old people ‘. 😂😂😂

It’s a real truism that only OTHER people are old as proved by my in-laws who are 87 and 85 and are always moaning about ‘ old people ‘ . 😀😀

A work colleague was one for unintentional malaprops. We never picked him up on them, just glanced at each other and tried to keep a straight face. " Salty " potatoes instead of sauté, " Human outcry " instead of Hue and Cry, and the one that got strange looks from customers collecting stuff was to say " if you could just put your monocle on that " when asking for the delivery note to be signed 😁

A lot, truly a lot. One of the great difficulties in relation to this is people only see the "bad" stuff. Our roads are in an appalling state and this is what people notice, quite understandably. What many fail to do, and I guess one needs a reason to want to do this, is to understand the breakdown of council tax and in particular the services that a local authority has a statutory obligation to deliver.

My interest comes from the fact my son is Downs and Lancashire CC has a statutory obligation to provide his care. The financial implications are significant to both the LA and the individual. I will leave it there unless anyone wants the full version. A friend of mine once described me, jokingly, as to the left of Lenin.............possibly that brings me round to the right?? (This is a JOKE - mods). Since 2000 central government (Labour and Tory) funding to local authorities has reduced by at least 60p in the £1 at the same time council tax increases are capped at 5%. I feel the problem is obvious. In sufficient funding to provide services

To fulfil it's statutory obligations the LA has to find cost savings. The longterm consequence of this is everything gets cut. Those unable to support themselves, my son, are expected to contribute to their care. My lad lives on benefits yet has to pay Lancashire CC £500 per month towards the care LCC has a statutory obligation to provide. This was introduced by Blair/Brown, just to demonstrate I'll kick red and blue.

The situation we have now is once the LA has cut everything to the bone there is little more to do other than to introduce charges for waste collection, close libraries, shut down leisure centres, etc Roads are sh1t because there is no money to pay for their repair. I Lancashire some 20% of our roads are forecast to reach "end of life" in 15 years!

The electorate/populace chooses to vote for a low tax economy. The end result is roads that are falling apart, and that sadly is all people see.
Totally agree .

Very much as you say. This cartoon sums up the disassociation in a large number of the population.

Morning all . It’s dry but windy in Coventry today but I think the rain is on its way.
I was thinking of going for a ride but that’s as far as it got , I have cleaned my bikes and blown the tyres up , so it’s a start. 😂
Think my plan for the rest of the day is coffee shop and shopping for prizes for the Open meeting we have at the sailing club this Saturday. I am on rescue duty , looking at the forecast I might be a little busy .
Have a good day folks and stay safe in the wind .

Ps probably best if we stop with politics before the mods get involved. 😀

Just nipped to Aldi. As others have said its a strong cold wind. Managed to get everything on my list which is a bonus.
Going to the pub now, zero Guiness and a bowl of chips.
