My car failed miserably. The back axle is badly corroded, the brakes need doing and a lot of bolts are corroded as well. The cost would be around £2,000 all in.

I have to have a good think about it. The car is 12 years old, so to spend £2,00 on it is a big cost. If I could get another couple of years out of it before having to buy a new car it might be worth it.

I shall have a think.

That sounds like its a scrapper, what did it fail on? any chance you could get a cheaper repair? I scrapped my old Hyundai because it needed £800 worth of repairs to pass its MOT, car was worth about £600, corroded front subframe was the worse of it.

Good afternoon. Lots of morning showers but now bright and blustery. I took a chance on changing the bed and a white wash........the sheets are clinging to the line like a drowning man clings to driftwood.

Small person is here but fast asleep at the moment.

OK. Big news. I'll give you the headlines. Our GP practice contract has been up for tender. Major protests from registered patients, public meetings, protest outside surgery, on Granada reports. Over 1300 patients emailed or wrote letters of support for the incumbent GP and protest against SSP Health the proposed new company. The Integrated Care Board (ICB) failed to consult locally which the ICB is legally required to do. The 1300 emails and letters were also printed out and delivered by hand to the ICB offices. The contract was awarded to SSP Health. The following day protesters found the unread emails at the ICB office.

Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker, is our MP. If there's one person you want on your side in a fight it's Lindsay. He also received 1300 emails. Last Monday Lindsay saw Matt Hancock, Health Minister. Today our local NHS Trust issued a public apology and admitted failing to consult. The process is under review and the contract not awarded.

Tomorrow we are protesting again at the ICB offices, TV and BBC R4 on the way. I'll be there.

They picked the wrong community for a fight!!!

Give you an idea of how good our practice is. Registered patients have the lowest attendance rate at A&E in the country. Why? We can get same day appointments. Hey, Mr Hancock. Want to fix the NHS? Come to Chorley, we'll show you.

OUCH so sorry to hear that £2000 is a lot to spend on an old car  but 12 years is not old, my Mondeo was 23 years old and still going strong before getting written off

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I've decided to go ahead and have the work done. I've not spent a lot on the car over the years and all the parts will be brand new suzuki parts so I should get a couple or 3 more years out of her.

They can't do her until 17th February. If they have a space they will slot her in.

Just fired up the new coffee machine for the first time. Very impressed with the coffee and I decided to check the quantity dispensed so I started with an Espresso which dispensed about 50ml, turning the control to midpoint gave me 120ml. I'm feeling a bit caffeined out at the moment ☕️☕️.
I'm using a repurposed glass nutella chocolate spread container as a coffee glass.

I don’t think Matt Hancock is in charge of NHS now, although, me may be a Celebrity ;)

Difficult decision.

No. The MOT runs out on 4th Feb so it can't be driven. It's OK though as I have my son, grandsons or son in law I can rely on if I need it.

Good job I went shopping yesterday. I now have enough food to last month. 😆

I've had several Suzuki's over the years. Very good cars - but they do seem prone to corrosion.... and once they fail an MOT on major corrosion it's really not worth chasing what will be a never ending series of failed MOTs and expensive repairs.
Personally, I'd put the 2k towards another vehicle.

I would agree, however the cost of sec9nd hand cats at the moment is stupid so I've decided to spend the money. Even if I only get another couple of years from it, it still hasn't cost me a lot of money over the years and hopefully the cost if 2nd hand cars will come down by them. I hope so anyway 😆

Yes, car prices are silly at the moment, I've been looking at second hand WAV's and wouldn't pay that much for an old car.

You would have to balance the cost of repairs, against the cost of a new car. Even a decent used car is going to cost many times more than the cost of the repairs. £2000 against 8 to 10k for a half decent used one.
If the bodywork, engine and sub frame are ok, I would go for the repairs personally.
