You lot have reminded me that we need to try again to get my wife's tax allowance transferred to me
she had zero income for several years and her pension is still way lower than the tax threshold
but last time we tried we couldn't get the ID requirement

problem is getting more common for us
problem is that she had her own house - then when we got married (some time after she moved in - shock horror etc) she sold her house
however all the bills here were already sorted out - in my name
so the only record of her being here are things like council tax as her passport is out of date due to Covid and she gave up driving well before I met her (I reckon it is something about the possibility of being asked to drive home from the pub - but she denies it!!!)

Hence ID is rather sparse for her!

It was a lovely warm spring like morning, its now gone dull and grey, so when I got back from Coventry market i said to my Good Lady "are we out to lunch"? a quarter of an hour later she was in her wheelchair and we were heading for the Cosy Cafe, sat in the cafe she said "can we call in the old lyric on the way home"? Its an old cinema thats now a pound shop type place, so I push her in there to buy a couple of bars of chocolate and we come out with two bags of shopping on the back of the wheelchair.

It's a crazy world!

Some while ago I wanted a credit card (0%) as a safety net for ordering something from outside the UK.

Despite owning a fairly expensive house outright, £'s plenty in savings, no debt and more income in than expenses out; I was refused.

Mrs SD (who also has half of the above) has all the utility bills in her name and her subsequent application was granted.

Bonkers.

Yup - many years ago I got a lot of discounts from a departments store (won;'t say which one) because they had a 10% off offer if you took out a store card and used it to pay for the purchase
I failed the checks every time - but their policy was to give you the discount anyway

I failed because I had paid off my mortgage using my redundancy payment (I earned a lot in those days!) and had no debts of any kind but lots of savings
crazy system!

A few years back now I had a saving account with Abbey National with a couple of grand in there, but I wanted a debit card so I could pay for my shopping at supermarkets ect, I applied online it was refused, so I went down to the branch and raised hell, still no, on leaving I shouted “and this is how you treat a disabled person.......
Two days later a large hamper from Abbey National arrived at the door along with a note “your card is waiting to be picked up at your branch in Romsey”
