I think I had 2 of the old paper ones that my mum bought for me when I was 10 or 11. I have no idea what happened to them.

Indeed. Little to no Maintenance apart from cleaning it and the occasional firebrick replacement. The new ones like mine have vermiculite fire bricks so it's easy to just buy a sheet and cut the shape and replace it. Cheaper than buying just the fire bricks themselves.

Good morning. 'Tis bright, breezy and a tad chilly. I have allotment stuff to, last bed needs weeding, compost to spread, tomatoes to plant up and beans, lettuce and other stuff I can't recall to sow - I've lost my seed box and until I find it I can't remember what needs sowing. Been busy with admin this morning, tax returns for both, registering new cooker for warranty - the tax return was simpler!!!!!
Next I will depart for B&Q for an extra tomato planter and pop into Aldi as it's next door. Card group this afternoon.

Yes, that would be a lot cheaper. Quite understandable though as to be able to buy a fire brick for something which is 30+ years old is very good service, even if I dis pay through the nose for it.

Morning all . Got a few jobs to do today. Vote, then go to Leamington to pay some bills . Will go to the sailing club while I am there as I will drop off all the glass wear for our prize giving which is in a couple weeks. It will be good to get rid of the huge box that’s been siting on our dining room table for week.

They are poor value imo. Had full whack for the two of us for quite a while and won very little.
We transferred a couple of ISA's to a new subscription from a local BS at the back end of last year and for comparative purposes vs PB's the first £50k in each at 5.25%pa gets us £2625pa tax free interest guaranteed for 5 years.

Amazing how these things are still available.
We have an open fire with a Baxi back boiler and a few weeks ago the front riser bar broke - it stops the coal falling onto the hearth.
Found it straight away online and a new one was with us within a few days.
The fire was part of the original house build over 50 years ago!
