And missed dinner.

No, I enjoyed my boiled eggs and solders then had my nap.

I went out with a Welsh lass who taught me a load of phrases like good morning, I love you, lovely day...except she'd actually taught me a load of swearing and insults. How I didn't get murdered several times over at her local pub in Bangor is anyone's guess.

I'm OK in German, not quite conversational but not far off, halting in French, know a little Gaelic, and can drop into Shetlandic patois very convincingly. My grandpappy spoke Cornish, which I wouldn't mind a crack at.

Working in various languages I learned how shocking it is to hear a foreigner swear in your language.
So I was lucky to have a German teacher who helped me tidy up the language I had picked up on the production line.
My French colleague eventually came out and I realised that my vocabulary and style came from a milieu that wasn't appropriate.

Dinner/tea (we come from different churches!) has been finished and 'we' decided to celebrate the Coronation with a glass of wine

CLEARLY we don;t want it to go off so we are finishing the bottle
which is more 'difficult' than it seems as she chose fizz and I chose Red wine

Oh well!!
Isn't that two bottles, or are you working on a bottle apiece?

Listening to Gordon Lightfoot while I do the housework. Well never see a talent like that again in our lifetimes.
Yeah agree 100% , he was tremendous , gone out of fashion a bit these days but quality lives for ever. Canadian Railroad Trilogy still sounds great. I play the LP Sunday Concert frequently while driving long distance trips.
