Are surgery has actually stopped syringing ears I had mine done Had to use a softener for a week.To remove the wax a small vibrating tool is applied to the ear which loosens the wax.

Apparently inserting a syringe has in some instances caused damage to the ear drum

Sort of
They now refuse to see you in the surgery and you have to self refer to the 'treatment rooms'
which is fine
but I did that and got an appointment and - later on - a letter
apparently the latter included advice to put 2 drops of olive oil down the ear for a week before the appointment
which was fine as the first appointment I could make was in about 4 weeks time due to holidays and 'stuff'

anyway - I was doing the oil anyway because it was causing problems with hearing and some irritation
after about 2-3 weeks the irritation went away and my hearing was back to normal so I stopped taking the oil

when the appointment came around she checked both my ears
the problem one was blocked but the oil had not been done for over a week
she checked both and it turned out that actually both ears were 'totally blocked' - to me the right was had always been fine

she tried anyway with the pulse thingy but got nothing out

If csomeone had checked both ears and told me the importance of using the oil for a week before the clinic then it would have all been sorted out in one clinic visit

just been for the second try - and I had been using the oil for a week or more

she fixed it!
it was a pulse thingy with some water - quite warm but not hot

she did stop halfway through my rigth ear because she apparently got a huge lump out and had to clear it

anyway - we went out for tea (dinner for posh people) and I noticed that I could pick out the tracks on the pub sound system whereas I normally can only pick out the bass and some bits - not enough to get the song
tonight I could get SO much more detail

Hospital visiting today. SisiL(MrsDs sister) is picking me up at 10.30.
I shouldn't need the lift but the parking area is massive and I could be parked a long way away.
Brecky will be a nana and fresh strawbobs.
For late lunch its a toss up between egg n bacon on toast or chicken, onion n garlic with pasta spirals.....both sound nice.

British strawberries in stock now I think. They are much nicer. This country needs to get back to producing much more of our own food.

Good day. It's a beautiful morning and forecast to stay that way. The problem with last minute decisions to go away is one suddenly has a barrowload of stuff that needs doing. Today is going to be a busy, busy day so I mustn't hang about.

My Oban friend texted from a different number late yesterday evening. Said to call him today. This is a big relief.

Did you all know Arran doesn't exist? Try putting it into the BBC weather app.

Good grief, that was a bit of a sweat. Yesterday the Calmac website was down for planned maintenance to install a new booking system. In May!!! 😲 No telephone bookings available as system is offline 😲 I have just shelled out ££££ when the lady we've booked with mentioned the ferries are very busy 😲

Got on the website this morning, started a booking to find the calendar is six days out. May 20th showing as next Thursday. I've taken the plunge booked a ferry for the 20th, the eticket says Saturday.........if it's wrong I'll probably become a time traveller. Only one ferry not sold out, same applies for the return. Close thing.

That's the first job done, coffee finished. On we go.

:hello:

Morning all :hello:

Piling work started at Hinckley C at 0715 this morning - a regular thump, thump, thump which is quite loud even though we are about 5 miles away. Still, I suppose it must be done.
Looks like we're in for a warm sunny day and the Chuckle Brothers are going home later. MrsD will be losing the will to live if the stayed another day. Jeez, they could bore for England!
Still......family, and all that.
Off to Minehead this morning.
