He has wives younger than your kids 😀

Did he ever marry any of them?

Good evening. It's been a beautiful two days here on Arran. Yesterday we walked up Goat Fell. The word "Fell" isn't appropriate, it's VERY big mountain. Started at sea level and climbed 2800 feet in three miles. It was a hard walk, not technical but physically very demanding. Today we had a very sedate shoreline walk from Lamlash to Brodick, a nice walk but nothing special to see. We rocked into Brodick at 3.30 and got a bus back to Lamlash at 3.45, talk about lucky timing.

Prices! WOW. A pint and half of Aspall's draught cider, packet of Kettle crisps. £10.40 😲

Instead of buying another we're back "home" with a G&T. Tomorrow we head back to the mainland and up to Pitlochry. B&Bs from here on.......looking forward to my Sunday breakfast.

Regular readers will appreciate I'm looking forward to next Tuesday. Some may say silly, I say at nearly 69 I'm still very young.

You'll have to wait a day longer. It's only Saturday tomorrow!

I presume home baked bread won't keep long without all the preservatives they stick in supermarket stuff?

I can get 5 or 6 days out of mine but they rarely get to that age because they are scoffed pretty quickly.

I make little 1lb loafs when I want soft sandwiches for the week and slice & freeze one on day one. The other gets cut and eaten as needed. They freeze very well and if left to defrost at room temperature, are still soft and fluffy.

I also tend to make a wetter dough and bake mine at a higher starting temperature before turning it back down, with a total baking time of no more than 35 minutes. Any longer reduces the length of time it stays moist.
