bit of a problem today
went to the opticians to look at some prescription cycling glasses he told me about

On the way back I was supposed to be getting a hair cut - just got near home and took a shortcut across a park
managed to cockup an sharp turn off the grass onto the rather gravelly pavement and fell off
bouncing of a brick pillar and metal fence on the way down

bits of skin missing off palm and knee

and hairline crack in arm!!!!
finding of which entailed a 2 hour visit to the Walk In Centre

bugger!!!

GWS - sounds nasty. Could've been a lot worse too.

I've had a blast from the past tonight, I walked past the TV and they were showing a clip from Double Your Money, the early 1960's quiz show presented by Hughie Green, I remember that and from the same time Take Your Pick with Michael Miles. I walked past a short time later and a very young Les Dawson was on.

The very large eggs that our Tesco sell were £2.40 a half dozen a fortnight ago, I brought another half dozen Friday last and they had gone up to £2.60.

Large free range eggs in Aldi £2.65 a dozen. Thing I noticed about eggs a while back is the grades changed to very large, large, medium and small. What really happened is much smaller eggs started to be sold as "small" and the rest moved up a grade to create "very large."

I can still pickup local farm gate eggs for £3.00 per dozen locally.

I was surprised to get away with £40 in Aldi yesterday.........possibly we will run out of food by the weekend!!!!! Biscuits, treats etc. have been dropped and buying more own brand though there are some things which I still feel have to be branded...........tuna for one, everyone else seems to sell the fish John West rejects. 🤣 I'm bulking out a lot of recipes with vegetables and beans. Something like beef casserole has same amount of meat but double mushrooms, carrots, onions etc. Chilli gets double quantity of kidney beans. Increases the number of meals without changing flavours too much.

Can I recommend the trolley.co.uk app. In a nutshell one adds a shopping list and selects a range of supermarkets. The app then monitors prices, shows the lowest cost etc. I find it really useful and keep a list of expensive things in it. Whenever there is an offer or price change I get notified.

Fir example Kenco coffee used to be +/-£4.50-£5.00 but is often up to £7-8 now. I got an alert yesterday that Morrison's are offering at £5.49. I'll buy two jars!

Works well for us as we have all the major supermarkets in town so we don't need a special trip. When I go shopping I will visit 2-3 different supermarkets to get the best deals. Start at the far end of town and work my way home. Very rarely use Tesco as it's by far the most expensive locally.

Didn't they used to called "pullets" eggs, from young, not fully grown chickens?

Anyway, good morning all. Another cloudy, cool start to the day here in Barnet.
MrsP is off to the Television Centre in White City with a friend to watch the live 'Loose Women' show. Apparently it's some show on at lunchtime mainly for the females of the population.
I will be dog walking, doing some domestics, cutting the grass, and getting out on my bike. I might also get a pint or two in the Mitre as a treat to myself.
Another busy day in paradise beckons. :cuppa:

+1 for the Trolley app, Their website is excellent too. I recently had an email promotion from ASDA to encourage me to shop online. The offer was £20 discount on a minimum spend of £60. I order £60 worth of coffee beans, a couple of roasts we know we like, and a selection of other roasts to try. I did a " Click and Collect " and wandered down on the bus. Found a new roast that's excellent and our new favourite.

Hello. Dull, grey, breezy, cool, arm warmers, gilet. Forecast is 17⁰. My buddy suggested meeting at my place for 9.30 which means he's planning a Ribble Valley ride.

Woke at 4.45 feeling ghastly. Still have this thumping headache and strange sensation on the back of my head. I was ready to hide in bed for the day. Had coffee and paracetamol and feel better but it's still nagging. Pretty sure this is connected with my sleeping position. I'll try flat on my back tonight..........snoring and possibly end up with a pillow over my face. 🤣

Genius! I've always avoided online because I don't want home delivery. I get loads of offers as well, Click and Collect it is. Never even occurred to me.
