Back from a 7.3 mile extremely humid walk. Feels like walking through treacle when it's like this as it makes me feel so lethargic. Even breathing seems more difficult as the air is so thick and heavy. Bit better towards the end as the cloud started to lift and a very slight breeze picked up.

Off to get freshened up and then have breakfast.

I've been for a bimble, my Birchley Heath loop, I've ridden 24 lumpy miles. Out of Coventry through Keresley and up Breech Oak lane, through Astley, Ansley, Ridge lane, Birchley Heath, past Hoar Park and in down the Tamworth road. A warm and grey morning with a cooling breeze, since I got back my fats been crying, a good couple of hours out on the bike made possible by my Good Ladies carer arriving early.

This weekend is a change to my normal routine as its Mini D's 12th Birthday today.

Both daily cars cleaned, Mrs D's also paint sealed. Both the sunny weather toys are in the garage on smart chargers and won't emergency until the summer holidays.

Mini D's birthday party this avo, kids running everywhere and trying my diminishing patience.

We have just dragged ourselves out of bed.

Enjoyed the Greatest Show cinema trip last night plus, got home around 10.30 and had a smashing time involving gin, music and a deep dive philosophical game that Mrs SD decided we would play, based on a sub-text of the film when younger self meets older self. That was a laugh and more fun than it might sound.

Usual lovey-dovey finale too.

Reflecting this morning, I think I am very lucky to be in a relationship with my girl, she is far and away my life's Big Love and we have a cracking marriage; even after nearly 35 years together it is still firing on all cylinders.

We know a number of marriages that have become empty shells of their former selves and it is so sad to see. And they are almost impossible to escape from in later life - finances etc. Probably one of the downsides of being of retirement age - the eject button takes more effort to press vs those early years relationships.

Two sad relationships that have effectively keeled-over come to mind.

The first is a long-termer where he never came to terms with his wife's promiscuous past and this eventually led to him losing affection for her - crazy really as what's done is done and we have all probably done dumb stuff in the past. The lack of affection drove her into the bed of another guy. That's over now but the marriage is not what it was and is effectively dead.

The second is the classic empty-nester syndrome. Late to the party on the having kids front, this couple have realised that all their energies went into raising their kids; at the expense of their relationship. The kids have gone and now the house is empty and so is their relationship.

Sad times indeed and apolgies for going on a bit.

Have a good day all.

Salut tout le monde.
After a busy morning going to Bewts y Coed to buy a few books, LLandudno for Mrs G to look for a wedding dress for a forthcoming wedding in the next couple of month and lunch in Rhos on Sea, I am now free to prepare myself mentally to go round the Great Orme. Today is my best chance because the wind is in the right direction and tomorrow is supposed to have a big storm.
The bike is ready but I am not just yet. See you later.
