I go by the astronomical definition, so autumn weather has arrived right on cue.

By God did it rain last night. Wetter than an otters pocket.

Barnet,
A bit of muppetry from myself today.
Washing done, and then I renewed my Ehic to a Ghic card. Renewed my driving licence, and then I couldn't find my passport for the number.
Then I remembered my shorts have a zipped pocket that I keep the passport in when travelling.
I have retrieved my passport from the washing line and it is drying out on the kitchen table. It looks to be intact and ok.🙄

Showers forecast here so not sure whether to risk another walk or not.

The continuing saga of OVO. I phoned yesterday and got a very pleasant chap from Newcastle who explained it’s a long wait for engineers to fix my meter. Nothing until after 18th October, so booked in for the 19th between 8 and 12. Get an email today saying sorry 18th isn’t available but 19th onwards. You can’t make it up. It’s just one mistake after another with them. Tried phoning earlier and it was back to an Indian call centre who left me on hold for 15 minutes so I just hung up. Emailed again instead but I won’t hold my breath waiting on a reply.

Coming back from the Bull And Anchor the rain started as we got off the bus, we dashed across the road and dived into the bus shelter to wait out the shower 30 seconds later it had stopped, I pushed my Good Lady home and the first thing I did after getting her out of her wheelchair was to get the washing in, since then its been going dark then brightening up but no rain yet.

I go by the meteorological method so it was 1st September for me, especially up here.

I apologise if I repeat myself every year but what is this meteorological method exactly? It just doesn't make sense to me. Why should a season start on the 1st of the month? The earth travelling around the sun decides when seasons start, not human beings.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the UK is the only country in Europe with two different dates for seasons to start. Crazy.
I will stick with the only one that matters to me and the one that has been here long before humans populated the earth.
