After sitting in the van for an age one of the engineers knocked on the door and apologised that because it was now dark, and p*ssing down with rain he wouldn't be climbing the pole. He did however say that they would do all the internals. He drilled a hole in the wall and connected the internal fibre box. He made an excellent job of it, no mess and really neat. Meanwhile his colleague was the other side of the wall in the rain connecting the external box ready for the Fibre. He said they would return tomorrow in daylight and run the Fibre from the pole, and advised that we didn't need to be in as everything internal had been set up.The guys turned up, the Cherry Picker didn't. Really helpful guys, but the new cable would cross over an existing BT Cable which is a no no apparently. We are awaiting the arrival of the supervisor but I don't hold out much hope...

Didn't realise that you could run a fibre line from a pole.
I presume they will use a drop wire from the sold to the premises.
Drop wires are usually copper plated steel ( needed to give the required strength over the length of the span.)*
* Yes, I was once a Telephone Engineer
You can't just leave them in the tub, they'll go off! With all the torrential rain we didn't get any trick or treaters. We'd already opened the box of " Celebrations " in anticipation so Mrs TKK and i have scoffed a fair few between us. " oh go on then, just one more, but this is definitely the last..."😁
Light rope from the pole to the house, attached at the pole, and use that to lift the cable to the house.I wondered about this as well. The overhead line from the BT pole attaches to the soffit near our bedroom window and then there's a loop before it enters the premises. I'm assuming that it's a hybrid cable with a sheath covering the catenary wire and the data cable.
The new pole is about 10 metres further away from the BT one, and is 9 metres tall ( there's a data plate on it ) it's taller thann the BT one which has a " do not Climb " tag on it. ) I'm curious as to how they will get the cable from the box at the top of the new pole to the house. I suppose a crossbow bolt with fishing line attached would do it, but probaly break H+S regs.
