Saturday, not parkrunning but will go for a walk to the shops.
On a different topic, we have a wooden door to our out building which has become battered over the decades and needs replacing. I took a photo and some measurements and dropped them off at a double glazing door/ window manufacturers unit next to our local ScrewFix. I told them just a plain door without glass or high security would be fine, there's only the tumble dryer and small fridge in there. Got a quote back, three prices, the most expensive being unglazed, £600, £800, £1000. ( rounded up)
Those prices included fitting, but that's just chop the old frame out and stick the new in.
Seems awfully expensive. I will visit a few more places next week and see if my expectations are unrealistic.

Good morning all.
I am meeting my brother at lunchtime, he is coming down from Lincolnshire where he now lives. The sceptic in me is telling me that he is after something.
It'll be another soggy dog walk, I stick to the paths, but Millie wanders through the mud following scent trails. A bucket of warm water is needed when we get home.
I noticed yesterday the the puncture fairies have visited, the rear tyre on my Audax bike, which I'm using as my winter hack/shopping steed at the moment. It was fine on Thursday when I put it away. An investigation is needed this morning.
Then we are visiting some friends this evening, they are cooking, and Helen is a very good cook. :hungry:

I am always shocked at the cost of anything tradesman related these days.

Doors are expensive when fitted. Most trades are these days 😳
We needed one at the holiday cottage….I bought the door off eBay for under £250, glazed. A coat of wood preservative, then two undercoats and two top coats later, we took it down.
Another chunk for some door furniture, lock and hinges. Luckily my brother in law is a very handy handyman (now well retired, but keeps his handy hand in: did a good job fitting it 👍

What surprised me was the most expensive option was the unglazed one. The two other options offered were two panels of clear toughened glass ( cheapest ) and two panels of obscured toughened glass ( mid price ). None of the designs were what we wanted,

Think I would be considering making my own in a similar construction to a shed door. If you need greater security than simple tongue and groove planks a liner of acrylic sheet or if weight not an issue use a decent plywood sheet.

In other news, we have frost this morning so going to be draining down and heading home from the tin shed in a field 😆

I got quoted £1100 to prune my laurel hedges down by six foot.
I bought a chainsaw for 90 quid and did them myself over 2 days.

£1100 sounds a lorra lorra money.
We have a lot of conifers (don't ask, they seemed a good idea at the time) but I pay £200 to lower them, give them a hair cut on both sides and take the rubbish away......I always check that he/they are licenced ie not our travelling friends who will just dump it somewhere.
