I spent most of yesterday with MrsD....no response of course.
Our daughter and son have been solid bricks and already got things planned out.
Music was difficult as it had to be meaningful to MrsD......but this is what we have chosen.
1. Walk in to You'll never walk alone.
2. In the middle will be the granddaughter singing One Thousand Years.
3. Walking out to Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Not being morbid here but feel I can share these thoughts with you......thank you.

Do any of you use the "two together" Railcard? Our senior cards have expired and are £30 each to renew. The "two together" card is £30 for any two people travelling together. We're heading to London in July for a few days and the discount for seniors is less than the £60 it would cost to renew the senior cards.

If someone does use a "two together" does it work out OK?

No Dave, this is not morbid. I can tell you the thought of funeral music crosses my mind from time to time should Mrs P pre-decease me. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is on the list as it is one of her favourite songs. I've also got "Wonderful Tonight" Eric Clapton on the list. You go for it, anything you and your family feel appropriate.

Long story but a few of us had to organise a cremation for an old friend a few years ago. He went out to "Time Warp" from The Rocky Horror Show..............everyone knew it was entirely appropriate.

We used it last year and it worked fine. Not renewed as we rarely travel by train. It was worth it at the time.

Have either of you got or need a hearing aid? Hearing impairment qualifies you for a disabled person’s railcard, giving the holder (plus any companion) 1/3rd off all fares at all times. A hearing test is free on the NHS.

Nice walk done. I did wonder if it would be jogable (made that word up) but it was just too rough in bits given that I can trip over a matchstick my legs are so heavy these days. Great walk though and one that will only be known by locals so a good one for weekends and public holidays. I wasn't sure what the "pipe bridge" would be like but thankfully it had metal plates over the top so I wasn't actually walking along a pipe. The angler had a lovely hut with piped water and gas containers inside for making their tea, etc.

From my Facebook memories this morning.

A is for apple, B is for boat, that used to be right but now it won't float!
Age before beauty is what we once said, but lets be a bit more realistic instead.
NOW THE ALPHABET.
A's for arthritis;
B's the bad back,
C's the chest pains, perhaps car-di-ac?
D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
F is for farting and fluid retention,
G is for gut droop, which I'd rather not mention.
H high blood pressure--I'd rather it low;
I for incisions with scars you can show.
J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,
K is for knees that crack when they bend.
L 's for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forget what comes next..
N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;
O is for osteo, bones that don't grow!
P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!
Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
R is for reflux, one meal turns to two.
S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
T is for Tinnitus; bells in my ears!
U is for urinary; troubles with flow;
V for vertigo, that's 'dizzy,' you know..
W for worry, now what's going 'round?
X is for X ray, and what might be found.
Y for another year I'm left here behind,
Z is for zest I still have-- in my mind!
I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed, And I'm keeping twenty-six doctors fully employed!

Anyone got any alternatives?

I've heard of this and did check as I use hearing aids, not every day but I do have an NHS prescription. I checked entitlement and I also qualify through epilepsy.

I didn't know about the companion bit, this makes it even more worthwhile. Thanks.
