Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Crieff is now losing its last bank. Bank of Scotland is closing in February. We have gone from 4 banks to zero in just a few years. I know it’s a sign of the times with everything going digital but if we ever lose our post office too, there will be nowhere at all to deal with transactions.

We don't have any banks left in Mach either. The last one shut down 2 or 3 years ago. We have a post office and that's it.

Scorchio here now.

I have been pottering in my workroom. Tidied it first of all, got rid of junk, combined things to give me more room. It looks much better now.

Let Mr WD tidy your workplace.
After all you tidied his, now he can return the favour!

There is talk about having a banking hub in towns where you can do your banking, no matter which bank you use.
But it is only talk at the moment.
Around my way in North London, all the banks seemed to of closed every other branch, so there are banks and building societies in Barnet, but nothing in Whetstone. North Finchley has branches, but not Church End Finchley, and so on.
There are 2 hubs opening up in towns near here, one has I believe already opened, the other is earmarked for later this year/early next. Ironic how they are both in old banks!

We shall have to politely disagree.

I think we will end up with no main banks, assorted hubs, atm's everywhere people congregate and perhaps some local intiatives like the Bank of Dave (good film).
Twenty years ago I was in the back office, handling the accounts, where a similar debate/argument was had. Majority wisdom said that cash would be gone in ten years. Banking would be done on phones, with even ATM's going from the high street.

The banks may be going, but the machines are still there. With a 25% increase in total numbers year on year.

I still use cash, just as likely to be got from the counter in the bank as from a machine. For two years I used card payments as much as possible, for obvious reasons. Now that need has gone. And, if a shop doesn't like my cash, I'll take it and my trade elsewhere.
