Getting old but not past it
Location

Problem is if I led an unstructured retirement and did things ad hic nothing would get done. I need to grip it or it doesn't work for me. At least I'm dancing to my tune and not someone else's.

I don't really have a routine. At the moment, because it is exams period, I am invigilating most mornings during the week until June 19th.
After that date, I will get up usually by 8 am and then decide what to do . Every day is different and also weather depending. I try to ride at least twice a week or when I feel like it. Even if I don't do much during the day, it doesn't bother me as I have done plenty when I was working in my past life. Now is the time to do what I want when I want and don't answer to anybody but me and sometimes Mrs G as well if so required. Retirement is for leisure and freedom to live your life as you wish without any pressure from third parties.

I’m done for the week at 161,430 steps.

WoW I'm a wee bit shy of that
No, a lot more shy of that
Ah but I'm older than you

Saddle sorted, no more noise.

A fiddly bugger, one of those with a fore and aft bolt, 2 clamping plates and a couple of cylindical bits that the bolts screw into at 90 degrees.

And to get the seat angle right you have to tighten one bolt and loosen the other one etc.

Tried my patience in the heat tbh.

We was going for a walk this pm but I have had enough of the sun - as has Mrs SD who has been dead-heading in the garden.

Got back from hospital and been out for lunch at the Plough.
My Bro and SiL had traditional "Sunday Lunch" and declared them to be excellent.
I went for fish, chips. The fish was huge with nice crispy batter...
..superb....even Dirk would struggle🙂

Has anyone watched The Gallows Pole
It’s about the Crag Vale Coiners The story has been dramatised some what but sticks to the actual account of the Crag Vale Coiners It’s on BBC 2

Yes, saw last week's episode. The Guardian gave it a five star review. I also read the reader comments which followed. Readers absolutely panned it, coming in for criticism on many different aspects.

I thought it was terrible, Mrs P disagrees. When I read The Guardian I was quite relieved it wasn't just me who thought it awful. I won't bother with the rest of it.

Cragg Vale Coiners.
So far it's a fictional prequel, with too many things wrong with it.

Like what. I realise it’s not supposed to be a documentary of the Crag Vale Coiners and has been adapted for television I’ll continue to enjoy it despite your reservations about the contents
I first came across the coiners in a chapter of Mike Hardings book about his journey’s through the Yorkshire Dales

Like @Drago I like structure to my week simply so I can get organised. My buddies and i like to ride three days a week. We need fixed days so we know when to expect what. Basically it's this:
  • Monday - cycling
  • Tuesday - granddaughter day
  • Wednesday - cycling
  • Thursday - housework and supermarket
  • Friday - cycling or walking
Saturday and Sunday are left free to fit in whatever needs doing. Only Tuesday is set in stone, the rest flexes to match the weather. A wet Wednesday would switch with a dry Thursday etc.

If I didn't have some basic structure stuff wouldn't get done. It's not an obsession just a means to be organised.

Finished everything household on my list for today. Just having a brew before heading up to the allotment.

Barnet,
It's pretty warm here today. Not a cloud in the sky.
I've done a bit of weeding in the front garden and it is pretty dry, I can't remember when we had some rain.
I might have to resort to the watering can.
Steak and kidney pie with veg for tea tonight.

The women's involvement wasn't as great as being shown. Hartley was just a thief, who wasn't very welcome in Heptonstall. Due mainly to his thieving.
Biggest disappointment is the modern English being used, neither period nor local.
They're supposed to be struggling to buy food, but they're out in their Sunday best.

Worse than "Gentleman Jack" in my opinion. If they have, as is being said, done a first series, then William Deighton won't stand out as much, from anyone else around him.

I've had a saddle like that, a pain to get right but one of the few that I've managed to get spot on.
