I must admit that I don't find today's so called comedy funny at all.

I do like Ricky Gervais though.

Have you seen 'Life's too short'?

Same with me I can think back to a lot of R4 and BBC comedy which was unmissable in our house and watching the occasional rerun they've stood the test of time; Only Fools and Horses, Dinner Ladies, Claire in the Community for example.

The only comedy we regularly watch is HIGNFY but I usually stop listening after 10 minutes unless they're really on the nail. All a bit hackneyed.

Hello, time for a proper good morning. Rain through the night and a couple of heavy showers since. It won't have made much difference.

I've tidied, read the paper and made myself a Father's Day breakfast. How does that work. #1 son took us to lunch at The Counter House in Manchester yesterday. Highly recommended and a great vibe in the surrounding area. #2 #3 sons are rumoured to be coming this afternoon.

i have a spot of allotmenting to do, some interwebby things and packing. We're taking #2 son on holiday to Center Parks tomorrow. He's not keen but will love it when we get there. This is not a cheap holiday but given his difficulties one we really want to do.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

No. Haven't watched that.

I tend to like sarcastic and irreverent humour as you lot here may have guessed.

This may sound strange but I class this with Monty Python. All my mates (and half the world) raved about them but try as I might they did nothing for me. Must be me!!

In my teens I watched Python religiously and my retro-thoughts on it are, a small percentage of the content was, to me, genuinely funny, another indeterminate percentage was funny but I didn't get it or simply didn't understand it, and the rest was simply crap.

Of course, next day at school after watching it all us pretentious teens, including me, made out that we understood it all.

Part of growing up I guess.

Now... how about a chat re Pirtig's 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'?:laugh:

I enjoyed some of Python at the time but don't find it funny now. I never got The Prisoner at all even though we watched it every week.

On the subject of telly is anyone else watching "Best Interests" on BBC 1 with Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen? It's the story of a family whose daughter has a life-limiting condition and her parents battling the hospital recommendation to withdraw treatment.

The BBC at its very best.

On our 'to watch' list.

Horgan is an excellent actress.

Watch Catastrophe on Netflix and she is superb. Possibly too steamy for some but it really is very funny.

The trouble with comedy now is you have to be so “politically correct” these days........
Years ago you could take the pi$$ out of anybody and they would laugh, today they would call the police and you'll end up in court.

I think comedy has always had its 'off limits' content. It's just that what is, and isn't, acceptable changes over time.

We either move with the shift or don't.

I remember one of the few times I was genuinely offended by a comedian was when Sean Lock did a sketch on cancer victims - ultimately ironic when you think about it.

I was really hacked off by it and turned the TV off.

I guess we all have our own boundaries.

Ah, yes.....the bus stop cool chat......................along with a copy of the latest Led Zep album casually tucked under one's arm, "oh this, forgot to put it down on the way out".........................just to carry it home again 6-7 hours later ^_^
