Morning all.

Up very early today, as yesterday's ride seems to have reactivated my neck problems, which cause huge headaches.
Now sitting with a hot it water bottle on my shoulder, doped up on codeine and naproxen.

Disappointing as I thought I'd fixed it, and not had a headache after a ride for the last couple of weeks, after shortening my bike stem.

Morning all. A (mainly) 'upbeat' post today.
1• thank you all for your supportive messages. Surprising how helpful they were.
2• the whole day went well with people coming from all over ie Chesterfield, Anglesey, oldham etc...... nice to see them all.
• Finally......my SiL did amazingly well with the service (is that the right word? )

Apparently we** are all booked in for a Chinese at 19.30.
**we being 13 of us but I will have to work out who the 13 are. hey ho.

You have my sympathy. I also get plagued with neck problems both on the bike, and when sleeping. I've wasted hundreds of pounds over the years trying to find the perfect pillow without success. So far, the best bike for me seems to be my titanium Sabbath which is a very small frame with quite a big stack of spacers under the bars, but I still have to keep remembering to give the neck a stretch and relax the shoulders every so often.

Just the riverside trail this morning as I might be walking again later this morning. Surprisingly busy for being so early. Couple of guys with a dog then 3 lady runners followed by another girl running not long behind them. Made me a bit jealous. I need to get a chunk of weight off and get started again too.

Yep, my house is full of expensive useless pillows too.
I can cope with the neck pain, but the headaches completely debilitate me.

I've had them for years, but now in my 60s they're just more frequent and depressing

I've researched and tried a few supplements over the years. Magnesium, vitamin B2, and coq10 seem to help me, plus quitting caffeine a year ago apart from the odd decaf. I still get a few headaches but definitely not as bad. It's been a while since I had to take one of my Sumatriptan.

It can get your core temperature down below the normal body temperature of 37°C, with ease.
Warm yourself up slowly, with no rubbing or direct heat applied. Let the body reheat itself.

Interesting. #2 son is a slow walker and Mrs P walked back to our lodge with him while I went ahead. By the time they got back I had changed to long trousers, fleece and down jacket and was drinking tea.

My wife, retired medic, suggested I should have a hot shower. I didn't and soon warmed up.

@Mo1959 @Lee_M I'm sure you have both researched the subject thoroughly but my experience my help. I used to suffer stiff necks which would spread causing discomfort down to my left hip. An NHS physio gave me the exercises below to perform 3-5 times a day which over a period of 6-8 weeks released the muscles and solved the problem.

Recently, three weeks today, the issue returned this time giving me severe headaches, worryingly in the area where I had a brain haemorrhage in 2019. I restarted the exercises and immediately felt the tension in them and literally could hear my neck grinding. I've still got a bit of stiffness and slight headache but much improved.

Might be worth a try?

Number 8 is the one that I find helps me the most.

Thanks. I do all of those!
Lots of physio and doctor involvement over the years, and more recently. Lots of exercises done and being done. Even had scans and Xrays, nothing to see which is both a good and bad thing, as nothing sinister to see, but also nothing to see that can be fixed.
