We always ask them to slow down - caused some consternation at the rather excellent Barton Rouge in Chester a while back.
Still eating starters and out came the mains - the waiter just stood there with a gormless look on his face waiting for us to do who knows what.
Mrs SD straightened him out plus dealt with the owner too (very politely) and got a profuse apology in return.
Not had that but a few years ago we had a nice meal at a good Indian restaurant BUT the moment they put our last 'course' down they made it clear that they wanted us gone for the next customers.
We refused to be rushed but it took the edge of it.
Never went back.
Sadly that has crept into a number of restaurants over the years.
We simply refuse to book at those that state eg 2 hours maximum time slots.
Indian plus drink usually costs us £75-100 and if we are paying that then we are staying put until we are ready to go.
It probably helps too that we do not usually book a table before 8.30pm as we don't like eating at kiddy-time.
Also, we always specify that a table for 2 is exactly that - we once had a '2' booked and we ended up on a 4 seat table set for 2 which is fine by us. A fair way through the meal a waiter came and said they had another couple to seat and they would like to put them on our table - Mrs SD straightened them out in double-quick time.
And you'll be wanting a lay in come the morning, only you won't be allowed one.
Where's numbnuts, he can't have slept in.
Morning folksThink ive sussed why my chain has been skipping in top gear.....the rear wheel bearings are on their way out
there was slight wheel rock which has rapidly got worse. I was going to ride the bike over to the LBS [6m] but dont fancy it on the A9 if it goes pear [or similar fruit] shaped
My neighbour says he'll take me over which is handy. Would like a 2nd bike to use when mines off the road, i'll see if the repairer has got anything not too expensive.

I was just going to ask him to fit new bearings but there may be other options. Could my Dawes become a feather weight rocket ship!No doubt the stock wheels will be pretty cheap and cheerful as with most new bikes. It’s amazing how much difference a wheel upgrade can make to a bike.
