Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
My bread is lovely. Fresh out of the breadmaker. Not taken it out of the pan yet.

Walked the mile up the hill to the Doctors Surgery for a health check up I was invited to attend. Chucking it down with rain and blowing a Hoolie. I was the only person in the Surgery apart from the Staff and within a few minutes was called in to an examination room by a really charming Nurse. She weighed me took a blood sample for the Cholesterol test and checked my heart rate, then asked the usual lifestyle questions while putting all the answers in to the computer. When everything was entered and the computer calculated the result she said " Now, I'm confused "
She said that from all the answers that I'd given, my cholesterol levels, blood pressure and weight, she expected me to have a risk factor of less than 10% ( That's when I asked risk factor of what? and was told that the check up was for the risk of contracting coronary heart disease within the next 10 years ) The computer came up with a score of 27% so she will refer me to the Doctor.
She said I'd probably be offered Statins and I told her I'd been following all the Pro / Con articles for more than a decade and would almost certainly use diet instead of medication to remediate any concerns.

A chap just knocked on the door with a leaflet for " Toob " broadband. Looks like they're the outfit that will be supplying connections to the Fibre that's being laid in our area. It's advertising 900Mbps up / down for £25 per month on a fixed 18 month contract with no price rise, then £29 per month.
We're currently with Zen on a FTTC install that gives is 80/20 for £25 per month with no price increase unless we change contract. The 80/20 is more than enough for our household, Zen have been outstandingly good with the couple of issues we've had, and the Fritzbox modem they supplied was of the very best quality.

That’s excellent. I’m paying BT £66 per month for just 40 down 6 up. Definitely time to move this time when my contract is up I think.

We've been stuck for years here (for anyone unfamiliar with Hull area KCom has a virtual monopoly), now there are a couple of newcomers. Currently paying £45 a month for t'internet, one of the new ones is offering £30 for a faster service but a minimum 2 year deal. As we're looking to move before that would finish (plus the fact it costs £25 a month if you finish before the contract ends), looks like I'm still stuck.

My bread is also lovely - took it out of the breadmaker just before your post, and I've made major inroads already.

I've been with Zen for several years now and they've stuck with their price guarantee. If I were to shift to a new contract then I think I might lose that guarantee, but even without it they've been excellent. When the landline phone was switched to digital a couple of months ago I got an Email with a link to a short video showing you how to take the plug from your exisiting BT box and plug it in the back of the supplied Modem / Router, it worked flawlessly, but even If I'd got confused they have a really good customer support department based here in the UK ( Rochdale I think )
The supplied Modem / Router is a "Fritzbox" 7530 which has a built in DECT phone connector so I just plugged my Panasonic wireless phone base station in there and they all connected without issue. There's a call logger / ansaphone as well as lots of other stuff that's built in but I just use the basic functions. Just checked and the Zen supplied router sells for £196 on Amazon, so by no means an " el cheapo " item that a lot of companies provide.
