OK gardeners. My spider plant has grown a rather long stem. Is this the beginning of a new plant and what do I do with it. Is it like a strawberry plant where you plant it into a pot then cut it away from the main plant once it grows more?

Answers on a postcard.

Its a flower stem, it looks like you've got buds on the end of it.

Managed another ride yesterday - only 13 miles but does include a long uphill to get there and then several ver steep bits on gravelly tracks to get the "art" at the top
(The Dream in St Helens/Widnes for anyone who is interested - it look like a k**b on a hill as you drive along the M62!!)

then pretty much downhill all the way back but into a wind that didn;t exist when I was going uphill - as always!

anyway - legs were stiff as a board all evening - serves me right for on 2 successive days after a month with no rides (2 weeks in Greece is my excuse!)

Did get chased by a dog which stopped as soon as I stopped so looks like it just wanted to play chase - owners did apologise and said "is is something to do with wheels" - in other words "he always chases bikes but I did nothing about it when you rang your bell to warn me that you were there"
Otherwise seem like nice people and nice dogs - just no idea of discipline - hate to see their kids!!!

Started young, and still going.

New little plantlets will grow from the stem, which when big enough you can pot up as new spider plants.

These are ready to be potted up now.

Getting old but not past it
Bonjour tout le monde. Went to see our grandson play football
with his new team this morning. They lost 7-1 so he wasn't happy . He did score the only goal though. He is not coming to our house today as he will be in a horrible mood as he is a bad loser.
I have cleaned two bikes afterwards and was also going to cut the grass but it is too wet, so maybe later on this afternoon as it is sunny today.

Rather than starting a new thread, perhaps I should ask this here. I am now semi retired as well.
I recently heard about this practice called "death cleaning". A Swede has written a book about it. Apparently there a Netflix series as well.
Basically you declutter home as you get older and closer to death.
Anyone consciously doing it?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Mr WD is a hoarder. I on the other hand hate clutter, so I secretly get rid of rubbish. Up to now he hasn't noticed anything has gone. I would get rid of everything but he keeps things that he hasn't used for 40 years just in case. The swedish death clean is an excellent idea.

Welshie is down to only 12 pairs of jeans now so it seems to be working 😀

Afternoon folks :okay: another soggy day, plenty of time for maintenance so slid off all outer gear/brake cables and cleaned and lubed them. Replaced my rear wheel just in time i think as a crack was forming where the brake block wear was greatest  Will replace the front in the not too distant and then i will have a matching pair as front is black and the new rear is ally [silver] not that i care much
Re-clutter, whatever isnt being used gets punted usually down to the charity shop

If 6 Was 9
Couldn't manage the 'small' lunch at the West Somerset hotel. Had to leave about a fifth of it as I just didn't have a real appetite.
Still...not bad value at £6.50.
Not too keen on the ambience; a bit too much of a 'sports bar' for us. Worth a try though.
