I have just been "told" that my family are coming later and that my son is cooking a full roast for us.
I am torn as a) I appreciate that they want to look after me but b) I don't want my life taken over.
Very difficult.

Tricky situation!

I have to admit Dave that, a while back, I did think about your independence re sharing the same house with family members.

Maybe a good time to start gently discussing boundaries?

Yes. I get on really well with my SiL and had a good talk an hour ago. We are on the same hymn sheet. My daughter is a lovely person so my main concern is not to offend her when all her intentions are pure.

A walk up to the park with granddaughter. Pushed her on the swings and supervised her on the helter skelter. She made friends with a couple of young brothers. Back home now and waiting for mum to collect her to take her to the cinema, then it will be time for a nap💤

A lovely age for you to enjoy.

A bit under the weather at the moment. My left shoulder and upper arm are constantly sore after my fracture just below the shoulder joint. I have a very good range of movement and see my physio on a weekly basis. Last week saw the arm receive a Covid booster on Tuesday, physio on Friday and a Shingles vaccine on Saturday. It makes sense to have them administer the jabs to the dodgy arm as it's sore anyway 🤔
I think the shingles jab has affected me more than the others, with a general feeling of being under the weather plus low grade headache and very sore injection site.
