Vegetarian, but not vegan until about 10 years ago.Was it not always vegan, but just not marketed as such.
It was the method of filtration(Parts of fish used as the filter.) that stopped it being classed as vegan.

I'm planning a " Yeast Extract " blind tasting after reading that over the years Unilever who now own the brand have been messing with the recipe. I shall test Morrisons own brand ( reputed to be closest to the original recipe ), Marmite XO, reputed to be the original recipe, and, of course, Marmite itself. I slice of toast spread with butter, cut into three soldiers and a clean knife used on each segment. 😎 I shall report back before submitting my findings to " Yeast Extract Weekly " magazine.😉
I didn't feel like breakfast this morning so I had it for lunch, scrambled egg on toast with black pudding and mushrooms
Put Bovril in too. It’ll win
Serious question.
How do you "do" the black pudding.
I have never in my life eaten it.
Just one hour ago i was talking about that and the person was saying "it must be fried, not boiled".

Definitely fry Black pudding, not to the point where it starts to go crispy though. It should still be soft.
Why not go the whole hog and spread it with Marmite. Black puddingMarmite
