I am seriously thinking about trying to live my life without watching the news or social media as much as possible. I have had enough of this madness

I never watch the new anymore. I haven't since 2021.

It has rained all day so far. We are going to the cinema tonight to watch " The great escaper " with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson . True story apparently. My wife doesn't like Michael Caine normally, but she likes the story line .

Caught an earlier bus to collect granddaughter from school as traffic warnings are in place. Of course the bus sailed through all the way so I'm sat in the Goat and Tricycle waiting for school to kick out.

No. Removing some trees from around the pond because the leaves are dropping into it and causing problems. He likes the trees there, but they are causing too much trouble. The leaves are not good in the pond. He is also trying to rake the fallen leaves out of the pond so that he can get rid of them.

To all of you, I need your help. When I watch a program about hotels / accommodation, the words Boutique hotel keep coming up. What the hell is a boutique hotel? The word boutique is French and means a small shop , usually selling clothes. So what has a hotel got to do with it?
It is very confusing.

I think it is used to mean small independent, rather than part of a chain

Started off with meaning a bit more special, upmarket etc than the average establishment. The term may have become diluted over the years.
