The LB over 60's oyster, (Boris Pass) ends on my birthday, I'll have to transfer it to the freedom pass. As it is issued by Barnet council, it is valid on TFL services, and network rail services within the oyster zones after 09.30 weekdays, and anytime weekends. Also, it is valid on participating bus companies/ county councils around the country.

I don’t know if there are variations depending on local authority, but, my Tyne-Wear (pensioner) pass works in England, but, not Wales or Scotland, for bus travel. Interestingly, I was able to travel free on Budapest Metro, by showing said pass. That was prior to Brexit ;)

Thanks for the explanation, I wasn’t aware of the difference between 60 + oyster and the freedom pass.
Although I live outside the London boroughs 38 years working for London Blunderground means I have a retired staff oyster plus a PTAC ( that will puzzle some ) . Not as good as your priv though.

Bus passes are also weird around here

We are part of the WOnderful Liverpool City Region which is in control of all transport (ish)

where everyone gets a bus pass at 60 which allows free travel all over the regions

except here because we are the only part that is not part of Merseyside

so the whole region - whose Mayor we pay for - gets free travel for 7 years before we do

I'm sure it makes sense - but I'm blowed if I understand

In this area, bus drivers working for one of the biggest local bus service providers are on strike, because, they claim that their colleagues in a different area, are paid a higher rate. Perhaps, all of us pensioners, not in the “best” area should go on strike for “parity” with London(?)

Evening folks :okay: had a pleasant spin today, the old legs felt stronger after resting for a couple of days. Didnt half start to feel cold though when the sun started sinking below the hills.
I was definitely wowed by Mo's trainer!:okay: What a machine! it looks a bit intimidating [to me] or if 'Skynet' becomes self aware  Hope she enjoys using it. :okay:

*Good luck to those with health issues :okay:

Just been on road.cc to look at tan article about a cyclist (witha cat) and a moped rider - it was also in the Daily Express and I wanted to compare the comments

anyway that is not the point

Temu are at it again
on "another site" their adverts had become less "difficult"
but on road.cc as soon as theu saw me they started with the ads showing women in sexy lingerie and VERY tight thin trousers
and some things that are indeterminate but will certainly not keep her warm on a bike!!!!

just lucky my wife can;t see my screen!

Just a thought Mo, I take it you will be using Zwift or one of the other virtual platforms. Does it come with a bell so you can warn virtual pedestrians of your approach 🤔

 I’ll give Zwift a go. It looks quite fun and motivational which is what I need. I had an old exercise bike a few years back but just sitting looking at nothing but the time and speed was mind numbing even with music. The only pedestrian might be Molly but I think she’ll not come near it anyway. 😸

Shouldn't that be a " Livingstone " pass ?

When we had a heatwave during the COVID restrictions, I would ( virtually) visit Norway and do some riding through the snow fields in an attempt to cool me down 😎
