How are your solar panels doing?

We're at the worst time of the year for Solar generation with the short days and the Sun low on the horizon but they are still producing, albeit at a reduced rate as I expected. Just looked at the app and it tells me they should generat a couple of kWh today and they have generated 105kWh since instalation just over a fortnight ago. It's interesting ( well, to me anyway 😁 ) to see that the house is currently only consuming about 100 watts with the stuff thats running in the background such as WiFi, TV in standby USB charging etc

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Not in the end, they were one of the companies that quoted and the price was competitive. They weren't offering the system that I wanted at that time ( a GivEnergy " All in One " ) though that may well have changed.
I wanted that particular system as it provides whole house backup of up to 6kWh continuously ( until the battery is depleted), and does everything automatically so you don't have to intervene as it will switch from battery back to grid when power is restored.
Octopus wanted a £ 500 fully refundable deposit before they will come and do a survey, I expect that is to weed out the people who might not really be serious about an installation and cuts down the workload on the surveyors . After we decided we weren't going with Octopus for the installation the money was refunded within a couple of days.
We do use Octopus for our energy supply as they offer several excellent tariffs.

I've been busy!
Hoovered up all the leaves in the back garden, dug over my raised beds, washed my two greenhouse's windows, cleared the stream and decided to cut the lawns as it's such a nice day.
They should be OK now til Spring. :okay:

I nearly got the lines straight on my front lawn!

Oh, and I ran both of the AJS bikes up for a few minutes to make sure they were OK.
I was going to lop some branches off a couple of cherry trees, but MrsD says lunch will be ready at 13.30, so that job will have to wait.
Think I need a lie down!

Barnet,
Today has been a garden tidying up day as the sun was shining.
I can't cut the grass though, it's still too wet.
I cycled up the road to the barbers and had my monthly cut, it was starting to look a bit tatty.
As the sun was out it hasn't been too cold today, nice in the sun, but now the temperature is dropping as the sun wanes.

We went out for dinner the night before last

Anyway - went up to order desert (and another wine for SWMBO!) and there was a woman in front of me who just needed someone for a kid as a treat
It was something very cheap (single scoop of ice cream of something so she paid by cash

turns out that the staff behind that bar have to get authorisation from their supervisor to open the cash drawer as it is used so seldom

How times change!
