Actually new towel are never very good at drying you
they should really be washed first - and don;t use conditioner on them
both leave a coating that makes them feel softer but reduces their ability to absorb water

but you probably knew that

I hate that fabric conditoner. It smells horrible and leaves the towels with a slightly sticky feel to them.

I agree - I never use it on my clothes
have to remember to put it in if I end up washing my wife's stuff

just smells like a load of chemicals to me
she think it smell "fresh"
but then my sense of smell is weird and hers is quite sensitive
so what do I know!

I just plead a rash on my back and legs so I don;t want any chemicals on clothes!

mind you - the mess in the car is nothing to the mess he makes when given a sausage roll - sort of mess the term "carpet bombing" is required for!!!

Reminds me of a colleague that I used to sit next to

He used to go to the canteen every lunchtime and bring a crusty cob sandwich back to eat at his desk while he did a crossword

when he finished there was not a square inch of desk free of crumbs and other fall out

he used to get the bin and sweep it all in after moving his keyboard

one day his keyboard stopped working
as we were part of the IT department - and the part that the rest of the IT department came to when they couldn;t fix things - then it would be embarrassing for us to report a faulty keyboard
or maybe we just liked fixing things ourselves even though PCs were not our speciality (we like systems were cocking it up caused total havoc to a whole building - not just one user!!!!)

anyway - we took his keyboard apart an found it was totally crammed full of crumbs and bit of sandwich contents
some of which were happily rotting!!!!

anyway we emptied it out and literally washed the electronics with water and soap to get all the muck off

then set it aside to dry while he used a borrowed keyboard for the rest of the day

next day we tried his original keyboard and it worked fine so we returned the borrowed one


I seriously do not recommend washing a keyboard
really just don't

but we were experts (OK not on hardware or PCs) and could get away with it

and anyway - a keyboard is cheap!

anyway - end of story - back to whatever the topic is

Been out and hoovered the new car out

Grand kids had made a mess of it - dropped crumbs all over the place!!!!!

SWMBO says it was my fault for giving them cake in the car

but for Pete's sake they should be old enough to stop dropping crumbs all over the place now
I mean - the youngest is 3 now - he really needs to grow up :-)

What a generous wife you have!, she even gives you a REASON it is your fault, when we all know, no reason is required, it is the man's fault

Mrs Tkk has headed off to the Dentist for some x rays as her routine check up revealed a possible issue. Either way it's going to be a tad expensive I expect.
Our Dentist, Doctor Anna, is lovely, from time to time she'll give my teeth a scrape and polish instead of referring me to the Hygienist, and on one occasion ground down the jagged edges that had developed on one of my lower incisors 🦷

We had leftover chicken from yesterday so sandwiches for us today.

I have just bought some new bath towels. How exciting is that. Some of the ones we have must be over 30 years old plus, so I think it's time splash out on new ones

30 years old. So you must have used it maybe 15 times by now.

In another life as a manager in a textile testing lab we only ever used 'natural' soap flakes in the wascator, I used to take our own washing in (when I got to it before swmbo) and it always did a better job than she managed with persil/ aerial etc.

I've just found this on Amazon, says it's great on outdoor clothing as it doesn't strip the waterproof layer, think I'll give it a try.

Honestly can't recall them having any branding tbh.

Edit I see you can still buy soap flakes for std machines but it appears they need a little prep. https://www.frenchsoaps.co.uk/products/natural-soap-flakes-from-the-natural-washing-company
I presume there will be pretty much the same but the wascator, being a formidable piece of kit, did without the prep.
