I love Greyhounds and Whippets but also love my cat so I would be scared to own one just in case. A cat having zoomies around the house might just set off the chase instinct?

The other 9 hounds that have passed through my life could not walk within 10 yards of a cat, even had one hound that would chase squirrels up trees, literally he would climb the trunk untill gravity won and he would back flip to the ground in confusion 🤣

My daughter has 2 dogs that are sisters (small x terrier things). Both very nice lap dogs but one of them does not like other dogs and when on a walk will bark/snap at any other dog....regardless of size. The other one is just so placid.

My dog didn;t like other dogs at all

but instead of growling or baking she ran away - or hid behind my legs
which was embarrassing if it was her least favourite type of dog - a shih tzu

if I was walking with her along a straight path and she saw another dog coming towards us then she would go round in a huge semi circle - all the time watching be with a look of
"Look Dad - I know I am supposed to protect you - but I'm doing it from over here"

Cats however were different - they were to be chased at all costs
and the garden was to be defended from them at all times
cats and foxes

If she saw a cat while we were walking around the local area (hence on a lead) then she would pull like mad to get to it

normally the cat would see us coming and dodge through some gates so she would get to the gate and look enthusiastically through trying to find the cat

In winter it was sometimes too difficult to see as it was dark
so she would go to one near a street lamp and look through that one - sometimes 20 yards up the road

weird dog - but we worked well together
(except when she NEEDED to go outside to chase a cat/fox at 2 a.m. and decided to stay outside just in case it came back! - that did cause some differences of opinion)

Just like a nice Spring day out there at the moment. :sun:
Did a bit of gardening, then decided to finally change the engine oil in my AJS 350.
I'd been putting the job off as it was quite cold in my garage over the past few weeks.
Blimey! I'd forgotten how thick was a straight SAE 50 non detergent oil. It's like golden syrup compared to the water like 5w/30 used in my cars.
How times move on!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Morning all :hello:

Being plagued with cats wandering around our garden at night.
I moved my Cat Whacker around to the side of the verandah the other night, whereas it had previously been in my veggie plot.
Caught the main culprit beautifully at 0417 yesterday morning - facefull of water as he rounded the corner. Jumped up like a startled cat in the Beano. All caught on video.
Funnily enough, we had no cats in the garden last night.
Just got to sort the Seagulls eating the Hedgehog food now......

More information about Cat Wacker please.
