I was going to have sausage and egg on toast but couldn't be mithered so have settled for a sausage.

Good signs of Spring popping up here and there. My neighbour left for Tenerife a month ago and won't be back for another 2 months > Wish it was me !

Often wondered if peeps still went abroad over winter for a lengthy spell. They used to say it wasn’t much more expensive than keeping yourself fed and warm living here.

Yes, we did that, for almost 15 years, after retiring. We used to clear off in early January, and return in May. A combination of Mrs @Boldonlads health, and Brexit 90 day rules have put a stop to it now, sadly.

Quite possibly because of the price hikes on all inclusive holidays it may not be worth going away for an extended time abroad. But, if you could find a good deal, it may still be worth locking the house up, keep the heating on low, just in case, and spend a month or two in sunnier climates.

Quite possibly because of the price hikes on all inclusive holidays it may not be worth going away for an extended time abroad. But, if you could find a good deal, it may still be worth locking the house up, keep the heating on low, just in case, and spend a month or two in sunnier climates.

We used to go in our Motorhome. Behave a bit like the birds, ie, head south in winter, and, return north in spring.

But, on our travels, we met quite a few who did similar, but, rented an apartment for 2 or 3 months. Never did that myself, but, apparently, you can get good rates for extended rentals, in winter.

Afternoon all . Am sat watching the cycling on Eurosport surrounded by drying clothes/bedclothes and towels .
We had a little ‘ incident’ at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon . I went up stairs and wondered why is the carpet wet ? Investigated and found water pouring in the airing cupboard from the loft.
Turned the water off and investigated, a union joint on the cold water supply had failed just before it went into main header tank .
So one call to a emergency plumber and £250 later it was all sorted.
Tbh we were really lucky , carpets didn’t get very wet and are drying out nicely and are not stained and all the ceilings are ok too. Good knows what damage would been if it had gone when we were out .
The only problem is the airing cupboard was rammed full and everything was wet. So we are trying to to get everything dry . We look like a Chinese laundry 😀

Phew ! you had a lucky escape really , could have been terrible damage if you were away for a few days, Why are Welsh Dragons bloomers on your racks though ?
