You are from the old school when mechanics could strip an engine and replace any parts. Nowadays, the so-called techniciens wouldn't have a clue where to start. They just swap one for another. Without their electronic diagnostic gear, they are lost. Good on you.

It's been a few years since I was involved in any serious engine work; having to remember a lot of techniques I used to use.
At one time, I could remove a TZ350 Yamaha engine from a chassis, strip it down, change the crank and pistons, rebuild it and have it up and running again in the chassis - all within 4 hours.
Nowadays I just tinker. I think the days of rebuilding Honda CBRs and Kawasaki GPZs are behind me; as are the overnight workshop sessions. :wacko:
