Forty years ago today, I was sat at home after an alternate coast to coast ride in one day.
Started at roughly the half way mark, and set of for Blackpool along with a bunch of kids from the local play centre shortly after 8am. Got back around 5pm.
Just over 130 miles in that time, riding at the speed of slowest rider. £112 raised by me in sponsership.
First long distance trial of homebuilt 36 speed bike, and no issues with it. A few years later superseded by the 105 speed. Ridden to Holyhead, and then from Dublin to Tuamgraney via Killaloe the following morning.
Over 300 miles in less than 24 hours.
