Forty years ago today, I was sat at home after an alternate coast to coast ride in one day.
Started at roughly the half way mark, and set of for Blackpool along with a bunch of kids from the local play centre shortly after 8am. Got back around 5pm.
Just over 130 miles in that time, riding at the speed of slowest rider. £112 raised by me in sponsership.

First long distance trial of homebuilt 36 speed bike, and no issues with it. A few years later superseded by the 105 speed. Ridden to Holyhead, and then from Dublin to Tuamgraney via Killaloe the following morning.
Over 300 miles in less than 24 hours.

That's tremendous. A 14.5 average, at least, with youngsters. You rode to Blackpool, turned round and rode back again. If I've understood you correctly?

We're planning Morecambe to Scarborough in July. The chat is to attempt an average of 15 with a group of six working together. The expected elapsed time is 11 hours. 128 miles with a moving time around 9 hours.

I may be misunderstanding some of this. To me 36 speed means 36 cogs on the cassette. Or are you referring to a 12 speed cassette with a triple chain ring?

Am I very wrong? Confused? And 105?

Good morning all fellow retirees.
It looks a bit cloudy out there at the moment, maybe we will get a drop of precipitation today.
The first of the bin lorries will be down soon.
MrsP and myself are off down to Victoria today to meet a couple of friends we met on the trip to Canada and Alaska a couple of years back. They have won a competition and are staying in London for a couple of days, so we are meeting up for lunch. We meet up a couple of times ayear normally.

Good morning from an overcast Dorset. A possibility of rain today, my fence panels painting was well timed for once. I have swapped the hedgehog food from Felix to Purina ( it's the only dry food that they had in our small local Tesco ). Seems popular as one of the local cats managed to get its head inside the feeding station before admitting defeat.
Icing my ankle and drinking coffee before deciding on today's chores.
