State Pension will be at about 80 by the time you get there!

State pension won't exist in twenty years time, just too many people claiming benefit, the whole system will just collapse.

Issue might be as people live longer they of course receive state pension for longer. There will come a time when those in work contributing to National Insurance won't be enough to pay sufficient amount for those claiming.
I'm not an economist but I believe this is the case. Happy to be corrected if wrong.

In saying that, the age of people popping off has actually started to get lower. No doubt the effect of our ever increasing obesity trend.

Maybe but also with increased automation and prediction of AI making the need for humans to do a lot of the work reducing then number in workforce is also predicted to drop.

Again, the caveat of this is all predictions which cannot as yet be verified.

A lot of info here if anyone interested :

I wouldn't be surprised if this happened. I've pressed my kids several times over pensions but I doubt they've taken any notice. My basic message is don't look at your Mum and Dad and imagine you'll be in the same position. Mrs P has the state pension and NHS pension, I have my state pension plus a private pension I don't access. We own our house and have savings. We are though far from wealthy, just fortunate and comfy.

Basically I tell them if you want a similar situation at 60 start planning now because no one else is going to look out for you.

I believe we've lived as a golden generation, the like of which we will not see again.

Well. Paul cannot get motivated today. He has done a lot of small stuff plus tidied but in truth could have done more. The problem is he keeps sitting down and reading CC.

Next I will dust. I'll probably sit down again before hovering. This isn't good.

Pleasant surprise today.

The postie brought a letter from my company pension admin. Apparently they’ve reviewed the Guaranteed Minimum Pension figures and they now owe me over £2.5k plus £400+ interest. All will be in my next payment.

Guess the Milky Bars are on me…

Back there today to discuss a rebuild of our tandem with e-assist.

Proposed:

Neodrive motor including new wheels/tyres, battery and controller, DI2 gearing (2x12) and hydraulic brakes. Plus sprung handlebar mount and new bars for Mrs O to improve her riding position. Sounds expensive. Quote will be in the email soon
Ouch!

Guess that’s the back-pension taken care of…

Just back from a long ride up to Stratford to meet a couple of pals for breakfast, rode back through the Cotswolds, just over 135 miles today. The recently resurfaced roads with loose chippings spoilt the ride slightly but good to get out.
