Started young, and still going.

Good morning all.
A cloudy start to the day , but still quite warm.
MrsP wants to go up to Tring Reservoirs this morning. There is a nice cafe there on the towpath of the Grand Union canal, but unfortunately the pub we used to walk to, The Grand Junction Arms closed down last month.😪

I have risen!

I was going to go with Biggs 682 and PeteXXX to watch the balloons at the balloon festival, but that would have entailed a 0430hrs start and I'm still feeling fatigued from the TIA.

Soooo...... You were well advised to stay in your pit!
@biggs682 & I did indeed meet as planned; 06:00 @ Racecourse.
Shame the balloonists didn't get up to go floating as it's a bit too breezy for them to take off ☹️

Had a decent chat, though 😊

Good morning :sun: I'm hungry. I decided to have brunch; eggs, bacon, fried up cold potatoes, beans.....................the problem is I'm hungry......NOW!!

First home game of the season and I've never had less enthusiasm for football. #2 son needs me to take him, otherwise I'm not sure if I would bother. It's a strange sensation. I think we will get battered.

Other people's summer holidays are a busy time for me. For the next fortnight I have to feed and water one cat, two guinea pigs, three chickens, five tomato plants, one cucumber plant...........................and a partridge in a pear tree.................that's a pear tree ^_^^_^

Once that's done I have stretches and weights to do followed by odds and ends before I pick my lad up for the footie. OK I'm off to feed the guinea pigs to the cat

I have only once been asked to look after someone's pet(s).

I was working in Malta, and, a colleague asked me to look after their Canary, whilst he and his wife returned to UK for a couple of weeks.

How difficult can it be, I thought.

First few days went ok, fourth day, I returned from office to find Canary lying on bottom of cage, legs-up.

I have never been asked to look after another pet since 😂

A neighbour had a goldfish (well whitefish, it lost colour with age) her daughter won at the fair when aged 7. The daughter reached 38**, giving the goldfish an age of at least 31. Neighbours dreaded looking after this fish. What if it dies? It came round to our turn again.

Mrs P went round one morning. Goldfish didn't look happy. Two days later it was floating on the surface.

This poor creature had existed in a standard goldfish bowl for 31 years.........we saw it as a merciful release.......so did our neighbour whose response was pretty much "at last that ****** thing has gone!" 🤣🤣

EDIT ** daughter continues to thrive and is now 43.
