Getting old but not past it

Salut. I took advantage of what looked like good weather this morning, to go for a ride. After about half an hour, I noticed a gathering of very black clouds so I turned back and hoped to reach home before they broke. I didn't make it and got drenched. I only covered 20 kms but better than nothing.
Weather is nice again now but a bit windy .

We have a bit of light drizzle started again and it’s quite breezy. Might get another little wander once it goes off.

Beans on toast for lunch. Cheap and cheerful and never get tired of it.

I just got back a little walk and it came on just after I was in. Well timed for once. It’s still feeling very muggy. I’m hoping it cools down overnight to make sleeping a bit more comfortable.

Aren't our sleeping habbits/problems diverse. You slept badly as did Numbnuts. Paul (to use the phrase) seems to go either way at the moment. I slept so heavy that I have had a headache all day.
A compromise would be nice wouldn't it.

I can't remember the last time I had a good nights sleep, I'm tired, but I just lay there and never fall asleep and this is with 30mg of amitriptyline.
There was a guy in the US who hasn't slept for two years, he was in the news a few days back.

We went to the hospital to see someone this afternoon

On the way out I had to pay for the car parking and there are 2 machines by the lifts in the hospital

there was someone at leach terminal
and a woman was queuing up behind them - and between the 2 terminals

some otehr bloke was in front of me and deliberately went up and queued behind the left terminal - and ignored the woman who was clearly forming a single queue

I queued up behind her

the right terminal finished first
the left one - that this bloke was queuing behind was having a problem

anyway - the woman at the right terminals finished quicky and left so I paused to left the bloke use it

but he just stayed there and turned away from me
so I just went and used it

finished in a few seconds and walked off
leaving the rigth terminal unoccupied

this bloke still stood there queueing up

I had to wait a short time for my wife and saw him wait until the first people finished on the left termina before using it himself
while the right hand one was free for a minute or two

and no - the left one did not take cash or anything - the 2 are the same

have to give him credit to sticking to his guns
He decided to use the left terminal and bypass the new fangled single queue system (it is probably woke or based on the EU or something)

and he did

good on him

what an idiot

Right

after listeing to "someone making a speech" on the news this morning I have been in an annoyed state all day

so I went for a ride once everything else was sorted out

only a short one but it involves a right turn from a main road into another road
so, as normal and as described in the Highway Code (which some driver may have read at some point)

anyway - as normal I was concentrating on looking ahead for a space in the oncoming traffic
and looking down the road I was turning into to make sure there were no cars, pedestrians, lorries, bikes, UFO, abandoned underpants or whatever

after a minute or so there was a gap in the traffic and I started turning into the side road

as usual I was taking a line which would curve round to the kerb side of the side road to leave space for any cars behind me - which I knew existed

the said car was actually a van who swept around on my LEFT forcing me to swerve ontpo the wrong side of the road - which was luckily empty

good job I knew he was there - and he only missed knocking me off by a matter of inches

1/2 mile or so I came across the van park outside a chippy with the windows open

if I had had a water bottle - or better still milk - I would have been tempted to stop and empty in onto the driver's seat!!!

twerp!!!
(my spelling has always been a bit off)

Yep. My trouble is I can sleep just about anywhere, anytime except in frigging bed when it's dark!!! Weird. Last night, nackered, bed at 9.45, this morning I woke at 3.50 after 6 hours sleep. Sleeping till 6.00am would have been good but then I had slept for six hours.

I don't get it.

Yesterday I took small one out for the day. We went to visit a castle. When we arrived at the car park she was asleep, I parked in the shade and had 40 minutes myself. 🤣

Anyway. Today. Good morning. Forecast for rain all day from 11.00. We need it, I have only one half full butt left. I'm close to declaring a drought.

Following my colonoscopy, all clear, I was invited to take part in a medical trial. I accepted for two reasons; I feel it's an opportunity to give something back, it's important that people who "qualify" step forward as the research is necessary. Secondly, and selfishly, it means I will be screened for the development of bowel polyps every six months instead of the routine three years. I've got the first medical screening this morning at 9.00. It's a fasted test......I'm hungry!! 🤣

This stuff is important though. A good friend was diagnosed with a rare, incurable cancer with a prognosis of 12 months. He was offered a trial place and took it. Today he is alive, strong and fit. He collects £20k worth of drugs from hospital every month. His diagnosis was in 2018. A resounding success.

Good morning all. Apparently we have a very mixed day ahead, weathwise.
Just 2 small jobs for me today........
1. Visit the Doc to collect a form that's required for my blood test. For some strange reason the hospital hub can't receive said form via email.
2. Pharmacist next. Over the last few years I have collected what remains of various prescriptions. Google tells me NOT to dispose of them down the WC but to take them to the pharmacist. Hence my trip.
