Good morning folks. Just waiting for the taxi to take us to the airport for our flight to Edinburgh. First time we've flown for years. The flight isn't until 11:45 but Mrs Tkk wants to get there really early🤔 in case of traffic / delays / who knows what.
Used the Lothian buses app to book a couple of tram tickets, not so much for the journey from the airport later, more the return on Monday when there will be a lot of ruch hour traffic that the tram will bypass.

Got the usual tasks and chores then a bit of work on the van wiring in the new reverse lights.

Morning all. Up early ( for me anyway ) as I am taking my daughter to another interview. She has had quite a few recently ( which is good as her current job finish’s in a couple of months. ) . She keeps getting though to the last few ,but not getting the job. When she has feed back they all say she interviewed really well . She is starting to feel a little down over it.
Oh well , fingers crossed .
Have a good day everyone .

I had that last time I was looking for a job
sending sympathy and it does get you down - but she just needs to keep going and eventually she will get one where the interviewer sees her potential

Cheers , I will pass this along to her .

I will bear this in mind too , as I am thinking I will have to get some part time work to tide me over to my actual retirement age. I always knew it would be tight lasting until 67 with out doing some work or using the small drawdown pension I have as well as my two normal ones. But post Covid inflation means I am definitely going to have to do one or the other . Or maybe both.

didn;t even know that was a thing!!!!

but now I know.......

it is kinda an experiment

we may hate the coach trip - or may love it

we shall see
You only mentioned it in February this year!

Kindles charged and ready for the trip, taxi sorted for the early hours. Everything turned off, cat out, milk and newspapers cancelled, doors locked, windows closed...

My feelings (not scientifically proven )
have always been that for every job available the P.O. will interview eg 30 people. 15 of them will be u/s leaving 15 good potentials. Let's assume 50% of them interview well. Its a matter of.......every time she misses out she is one step nearer to success.
In sales that is called 'learning to love the failures' as each failure takes you a step nearer to success.
Worked for me, I wish her that early success.

Back again.
It's a thumb twiddling day.
After Sue died the family moved into the main house.... family = 2 adults, 3 yoofs, 3 dogs and 1 cat.
It works well as I can see them if I want or enjoy my own company.
Now........
1 yoof has moved out.
1 yoof has gone to Uni
3rd yoof has new job and works away days as a time.
1 dog has died.
This weekend my daughter and SiL are away at a festival, taking dogs with them.
So...........
That leaves erhh ehhm.....ME and an ignorant cat  .
My thumbs will be well and truly twiddle.

Morning!

Looks like I am out on a limb here amongst you grumpy retirees!

I quite like the notion of a national ID card.

Would've come in handy when we were setting up our VW Connect App a couple of years ago.

And, more recently, for my daughter starting a new job a year ago and currently obtaining a new mortgage. Both entailed irritating, and time consuming, POI checks as she has neither passport or driving licence.

Can't do a debate here, obviously, but I honestly can't see any downside to having one.
