Someone mentioned local honey a few days ago. We get ours from a bloke who was at school with one of our sons who has a number of hives in our suburb.

I mentioned it originally then it was (i think) Kev that highlighted the benefits as against the big store type.
So yesterday I got a jar from a local farm where they have hives. At £5.50 for a good sized jar i thought it was reasonable.

Barnet,
MrsP Just sent me to the attic to get the dreaded Christmas decorations down. There were ten boxes full of things.
I would quite happily bin 90% of the stuff.

Our bins are simple but collection days make me spin. I have to put a note in my calendar for what is when. If you want to know what bins I'm putting out on July 20th 2026, I can tell you!!! Sad old git that I am. 🤣

👍

Warwick county council , our next door council have a system that involves three full sized bins and a large food caddy which all food has to go into . But some bins are collected every week , some are collected every two weeks and some are only collected every three weeks .
If we had that system I would have to set up a spreadsheet to have any chance of remembering what bin was what week . 😂😀

Afternoon folks :okay: did a bit of gardening this morning, moved a climbing rose [leaping salmon] from a falling to bits planter into a new gurt big planter. Think it will grow and flower well now especially as i mixed into the compost horse manure/seaweed compost/bone meal and in the spring will give it a couple of handfulls of grow more. :okay:
I have some self seeded cornflowers growing in a pot and are flowering! also a chaenomeles [quince] has opened a couple.

Burning question of the day.
Has Chris Rea set off for home yet?

A true story about that (possibly meaningless to most people).
Approx 25 years ago when I was co director/owner of a company i got a phone call from a local authority. It was the day before Christmas eve and they had discovered that they had excess money that had to be spent that year.
So........ Christmas eve found me measuring the roof of the town hall annexe, somewhere in the Midlands.
By 15.30 a price was agreed and I had an order PLUS cheque worth £40K in my pocket.
Driving home, heavy traffic, family waiting for me, that nice paid order to start the year and THAT song played on the radio. It was actually quite moving.
Here endeth today's verbal ramble.

When I take the dog out we go out of the back door, throught the gate to the sideway. If the dog is is muddy or wet we come back through the back door instead of trailing through the front door and hall.
So, while we are out apart from a hook on the outside, the gate is more or less open. I will be able to use the padlock from the inside of the gate and lock the gate from the outside whilst I am out and no one is indoors. Reversing the procedure when I come home.
Normally the gate is only locked on the inside.
Also when we are on holiday the next door neighbour feeds our cats, so she can lock the gate when she has finished.

PS. We had intruders in the garden the other week whilst we were out, the trail cam in the garden picked them up.

I like that. I don't think I would ever have thought of it but I like it.

There's a large detached house on the way up to Broadstone which is advertising honey at £9 per jar. There are several local houses and Bungalows that were built in the 50's / 60's that have very long back gardens and keep bees.

I’ve been laid up for a few weeks with trapped nerve in my neck, however I’m definitely finally on the mend so enjoyed a short 60 mile loop this morning on my motorcycle.

Didn’t realise how much I’d missed it!
