This time of year alway reminds me of my daughter at Y2K
I was an IT specialist - so I was on call and had a mobile phoen handy - which was unusual in those days
Our daughter was a "bad sleeper" - I mean REALLY bad
for New Year we we at her Mum's mother's house and got her to bed OK - for a change
Then Y2K midnight hit and she woke up and we just opened the curtains and we all watched fireworks everywhere
It was magical - Y2K that I had worked to make a non-event for so many years and holding my daughter while watching the fireworks
One of the magical moments of my life
Oh - and the phone did not ring!!!!

Y2K I was in the country, mobile phone(Ericsson A1018s) fully charged because power cuts weren't uncommon in bad weather.
I was outside either side of midnight, in a field, taking photo's of the firework display some six miles away. A first, fireworks at the new year back then.
