I have been told that mine are coming down this weekend, I will miss them.
And the Christmas decorations come down when?

basically they started going up Scotland's second highest mountain wearing jogging bottom and trainers
last night when it was well below freezing

Rescuers said they soon became "unable to proceed" due to lack of crampons and ice axes

and insufficient waterproofs - yah - maybe they had an anorak from the sound of it

Yea Gods!!! - it was cold enough here in Widnes at sea level

that is pretty much a suicide attempt ratehr than a walk

They, and others like them doing similar, should have the cost of the rescue passed onto them. North Wales has seen an increase in similar incidents last year.
One set of "climbers" having done the Three Peaks Challenge felt they were now ready to tackle a Grade 1 scramble on Crib Goch without the proper equipment.
Having done both, in fair and foul weather, the two don't compare.

Mobile phones and the increasing feeling that "someone will get us out if things go wrong for us" are to blame. The phone doesn't replace the correct equipment, and why should others put their days on hold to get them off.

Went to bed 2.45am, just got up.

Fireworks:

London, far and away the best with Shanghai an honourable second.

Worst, Sydney, 'iss-poor.

Dubai & Paris, very pretty light shows plus lots of theatre from Dubai - but neither felt like the 'real thing'.

HNY to you all.

Drives me mad. Typically young guys with their brain between their legs.

Snapchat, Instagram don't help either with people popularising routes etc on nice days and idiots not realising how dangerous these places really are.

When I'm out in the Peak District, I use my mobile for my route but it's downloaded so no signal is required. I also print the route & have a powerbank to recharge phone if necessary.
I also have a whistle & bright lights that can flash.
Appropriate clothing & footwear is worn too, with an emergency waterproof poncho.
I can't understand people who don't realise just how quickly conditions can change!

Its not as though they were young teens with no sense.
All things being equal they should be forced to pay all expenses incurred.

Bruce totally ignored the fireworks. Geddy got excited so we took him outside to watch them and he sat in my arms with a fascinated look on his face as he ignored the bangs and watched the display. He was absolutely hypnotised by the sight.

Its good having gun dog stock that've been beed to ignore such noises. I feel sorry for those with other breeds that get so frightened. Theres really no need for it and they should be banned, all bar public displays on set days between fixed times. As it is now some farts at 2am without sh****ing their pants and they fire off a barrage to celebrate.

When I had my Alsatian (GSD in metric) I always stayed at home on 5th Nov and NYE

I just put a chair across the entrance to the tiny hall - she often dozed there in the evening to protect me from cats and squirrels
and drew the curtains early
I also blocked her from the kitchen as it had a big patio door I couldn;t block light from

She was quite highly strung and worried - as that breed normally does

but when the bangs and flashes started she normally just came over and looked quizzically at me and as I was not worried she went off to doze somewhere

anything else like that would have her barking at it and demanding I do something
but fireworks seemed to OK for her
