Good Evening. Happy New Year from a mild and sunny Lancashire day. Mr and Mrs P stayed up till 12.10 last night. I felt hungover despite only having one drink. The lack of sleep I think.

We went to watch Rovers today. It was dire. Absolutely dire. That's about it for today.

A little story. On our trip to see the Enormous Crocodile Nana and #1SP are discussing baby Jesus being born in a stable. "How did baby Jesus get out of Mary's tummy?" This is the point when Paul is very happy he's married to a retired midwife. I now have an age appropriate response lodged in my brain should this ever come up for me!!!!

When I'm out in the Peak District, I use my mobile for my route but it's downloaded so no signal is required. I also print the route & have a powerbank to recharge phone if necessary.
I also have a whistle & bright lights that can flash.
Appropriate clothing & footwear is worn too, with an emergency waterproof poncho.
I can't understand people who don't realise just how quickly conditions can change!
Both Mrs P and I have day packs which are always packed with whistle, survival bag, basic first aid kit, compass, walking poles, waterproofs and I carry a knife. There's never a need to remember these things. If the weather is good we take the waterproofs out rather than having to remember to pack them.

Navigation is with a map and notes with the phone used to pinpoint our location if we're unsure.
